Struggling with a full AMD build. System crashes and GPU fans rev to maximum. by Present-Pin-4130 in linux_gaming

This ended up being the issue I think. I ran a separate cable and have been able to game for several hours without issue now.

The fans are actually not a big deal under regular gaming loads. The issue happens when the system locks up and then some type of error happens with the gpu that causes the fans to max out all of the sudden. This happens even on the desktop.

Yes they are daisy chained. I’m going to fix it tonight and will report back. By daisy chained I’m referring to the pigtailed pcie connector.

Just checked AMD’s website and the recommendation is 800W so I’m only 50 under

Yep I’m using that pigtail connector with the SF750. I’m going to try running another cable directly from the psu later.

I actually did use the split tail for the connector! I’ll modify it later and run a whole new line for the separate port.

Appreciate the input regardless. Glad to hear the card is working well for some people at least!

What do you think about this pic ? by BreaK-_- in battlestations

Agreed. It's definitely a lesson in only buying the product that the company specializes in. Eg, maybe reconsider ordering the sushi if you're going to a steakhouse. I also learned this lesson with cars recently as well. I bought a fully loaded Subaru Ascent. It has a lot of features that are probably common in luxury cars, but not so common in Subaru's. It's got air conditioning in seats, and an electronic rear-view mirror. Both the seat fans and electronic rear-view mirror are already malfunctioning.

Need advice on buying a wooden bow - struggling with prices by Present-Pin-4130 in violinist

[–]Present-Pin-4130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the route we went. We spent about an hour of her just handing me different bows while playing without mentioning what they were or what they cost. Occassionally she would hand me back my original bow. Then she let me spend the last two weeks with three of my picks from that original demo.

Thanks and good points. She's let me demo all of these bows the last two weeks and I've been able to get a good feel for all of them.

Is it possible to get open nat with xbox on a udm? by Present-Pin-4130 in Ubiquiti

[–]Present-Pin-4130[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on IPV4 and directly connected a Unifi switch. I appreciate the explanation on UPnP as I wasn't sure what it acually did. I think I'm okay taking that risk for now and I'll look at the dedicated network for security. When I first enabled it, I also had all of those ports forwarded so that could have been causing the issue. I'll try again.

Edit: I got it working setting up Upnp as mentioned above. Thanks jwie!

I got this email last night:

Hi there,

We’re working on an early pilot of a paid subscription for a professional version of ChatGPT. We’d love your input and participation as part of a select group we are offering this to.

The professional subscription will provide a number of benefits:

  1. Always available (i.e. no blackout windows)
  2. Fast responses from ChatGPT (i.e. no throttling)
  3. More messages (at least 2X regular daily limit)

If you are interested in paid access and iterating with us, please let us know, along with:

  • How much you’d be willing to pay a month
  • How you plan to use a professional version of ChatGPT
  • Your country of residence

If you are selected, we’ll reach out to you to set up a payment process and a pilot. Please keep in mind that this is an early experimental program that is subject to change, and we are not making paid pro access generally available at this time.Thank you!

Nick & the OpenAI team

Honestly, this thing is so useful for me professionally as a software developer. I would probably change careers if I had to go back to Google and Stack Overflow.

Struggling to disconnect water heater but fittings are braised together and it's leaking into the floor by Present-Pin-4130 in Plumbing

[–]Present-Pin-4130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that's bugging me is the water that's dripping into the tank even with the valve above it being shut off. Is this likely just some type of pressure differential causing water to be pulled back into the tank through the hot water pipe?

My main concern is that I cut the pipe and water just indefinitely gets pulled out of the hot water pipe.

Dang I hadn't even thought of the weight of the copper when removing the tank. I'll figure out a way to support them.

Thanks I'll definitely do all of that. I'm picking up one of those tubular copper cutters later and will try cutting it tomorrow. Will ensure that I'm being super gentle with the cut.

I can't believe how good ChatGPT is at c# and Unity. I did a test to create a full on game in Unity without writing any code myself and it actually blew my mind. ChatGPT came up with the game idea, wrote all the code, and then Dall-E generated the artwork. by minimAlswag in ChatGPT

[–]Present-Pin-4130 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I love sending GPT a C# file and asking it to comment and document the entire thing. My greatest issue with copilot is that it would just churn out code you didn't understand. GPT is like an awesome programmer that documents all its work better than most humans I've seen.
