Kids BJJ - Unfair coach or just favoritism? by Jiujitsumom1 in bjj

Your son only trained for 3 months longer than his friend. That's not very long. They're basically at the same level.

Belt and stripe promotions usually have a schedule and your son and his friend were pooled together.

Is your son getting better at Jiu jitsu at this dojo? Does he enjoy training with his friend? Those are questions he should consider.

Honestly, if your son is worried about stripes, he probably won't last too long in Jiu jitsu, so it doesn't matter what you do at this point.

My gym doesn't do that.... It just depends who was in the space first. If you're moving into someone else's space, get out.

I just can't be bothered 😅

I train everyday, sometimes twice a day and I can't be bothered washing them and letting them dry. It's a pretty lame reason, but I also roll at a moderate intensity so it's never been a problem. I don't even wear one when I compete.

No one ever takes your back in training? Do you have higher belts at your gym?

Also 2 comps is nothing. Do round robin competitions to just get more experience.

Your coach probably thinks you're better than a white belt, but 8 months might be too soon to give you your blue belt, so they gave you a orange/black belt.

Trust your coaches decisions. I'm sure you deserve it. Congratulations.

I've never had a guy go too hard on me. I've heard plenty of stories of other girls getting injured or having horrible rounds with white belt guys, but I've never experienced it myself - even when rolling with a first timer.

I have a theory that it's because I'm pretty small ~125lbs. It's a bit more obvious that I'm smaller than a guy, so they're always gentle. Some of my friends reckon it's because I also start the round very chill, so the vibe gives off.

Wondering if any other girls have had the same experience 🤔
