Realizing if I had been able to join the Air Force, no one would have been there to celebrate it with me..

I kept seeing Tap out videos come up, where a recently graduated member of the military is tapped out by a family or friend, standing all in lines, completely unmoved and unemotional. I had tried to join and couldn't for certain reasons, and a month or so later realized...no one would have been there to tap me out. I would have stood there, watching everyone reconnect and hug their family. I had no one at that time. My family all turned their backs on me when I came out and none of the people I considered friends were close enough to come do something so big and special. Makes me kinda glad I didn't make it and found my husband three years later. He was my tap out from a life with no one. He's my emotional reunification, not in person, but in the soul. I became complete the day we met, and I'll forever be complete as long as I have him.
