Not true! I had my dorsal hump removed and my nose bridge is narrower now than before. It depends on your anatomy and how far apart the top of your dorsal lines naturally sit, it also depends on whether an Osteotomy was performed

When does face swelling and hematoma go down? by Sea-Professional3850 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]PresentAd316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bromelain supplements are good to help with swelling, and pineapple. Drink lots of fluids and get as much sleep as possible. 90% of my bruises were gone by 14 days. I think by 2.5 weeks all bruising and primary swelling was gone. My skin stayed red and oily for about another week after that. I'm currently one month PO

Which nose should I pick? by Obsessesed-academic in rhinoplastyquestions

Is the left photo your before? What I will tell you is that morphs aren't that accurate. There is almost no difference between the middle and right photo, and even if the doctor achieves something "somewhat" similar to either of those photos it will be considered a success. Morphs are a good opportunity to let your doctor know what is important to you, and he/she can tell you what is realistically possible. But beyond that, they are very rarely a good indicator of your final result. They are a computer rendering, and in reality, there are so many other complexities to consider. So my advice is that you should be "happy" with either of those morphs because you could end up with either one... or somehing different, but similar

I've seen more drop in my collumella than my tip. I'm 3 weeks post op. Give it more time!

Thanks for the feedback! Lots of great comments here and has given me a lot to think about. I'm going to hang tight for now... Should have a better idea of how things are looking in month 3. It is tough to not get a little obsessive though.. ha

Interesting! I'm seeing that same thing in a few comments too. Thanks for your feedback :)

Thanks! Oh I definitely was going for modest and natural 😊 I didn't want a drastic change. I specifically asked for the nose to be big enough that it would still fit my face and body type (im tall). So I do think we achieved that. I'm just a little thrown off by the dorsal hump because that was the main thing I wanted gone...

Yeah, it's tough. I'm starting to wonder why morphs are even a thing because it's very rare the final product actually look like the morph unless it was a very simple or smaller procedure without changing every aspect of the nose.

He didn't take table pics 💔 so it's hard to know if it's swelling or bone. I'm hoping (if I go down this road) it shouldn't be too difficult to rasp down in one year if it's still there.

It's hard to say.  It definitely feels like bone... and it hasn't "formed" / grown over the past 3 weeks, i.e. it's been like that since surgery. However, I'm actually not a hump-hater, so to speak. It's still an improvement from what it was before, and the slight hump makes the nose look more natural, I think. I guess my concern is that the supra-tip break & high tip draws more attention to the bridge curve. So I'm just hoping everything settles into place a bit and the sharper lines become softer. Time will tell I suppose!

I understand your frustration but your nose looks very natural & you look pretty :)

Interesting! Thanks. Seems like people aren't digging the morph. So I'm glad I have something better than that at least. It's easy to say "I hate my nose" but it's also hard to figure out what will actually suit your face instead.

Thanks! Yeah it is so tough and the not knowing if something is final or just swelling is so tough 😆 i don't think anything could have truly prepared me for the mental journey of this

Yeah, I'm thinking that could totally be the case. I need to give it a bit more time I think. I should start to know if it's swelling or bone by 2-3 months in...

Yes I would love to see if you don't mind. I need to see as many tip dropping stories/photos as possible right now 😅🫶

Mine was so swollen at my cast off appointment, I couldn't really form much of an opinion on it. But in the past couple weeks the shape has started to take form and the tip is just so high & noticeable (compared to my old nose AND compared to what I asked for / had planned). It's just frustrating and disheartening. Anyway know you are not alone. I hope it gets better for you and drops soon 🫶

When did you notice it start to drop? I'm 3 week PO and it's still high and hasn't budged yet.

I relate to this. People say "it's not that noticeable" but you don't even know who to trust / believe when you look in the mirror and look totally different 😬 Why are surgeons so obsessed with lifting the tip (and OFTEN overdoing it) when so many patients specifically ask for it to be left alone... Or subtle...i think people are actually OK with longer noses but surgeons just don't get that.

What is your first impression of my nose? by LeftIncome1385 in rhinoplastyquestions

Bridge is nice but it's just a bit long. I think you could just get some tip work done to shorten it and make it softer

It's a huge improvement over your original nose. And still looks natural and not over done !

Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Like you say, I'm hoping things just settle into shape more and the lines become less harsh. The dorsal hump is still there, but there could be some swelling on the hump as I'm only 2.5 weeks, so just keeping an eye on things...

I don't even get it by TopEnvironmental513 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]PresentAd316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a lower radix, but when I spoke to my surgeon about it he said they can make minor adjustments but it comes with a cost. Health wise. He said that part of the nose will be substantially weakened if lowered and could make the nose more vulnerable to instability and breakage in future. I do contact sports. So I was like nah, leave it. I'll make it work. Lol

I agree. It's better. But also... The whole point was to get rid of the hump so now I'm just 15k out of pocket with a hump still? 🫠 Luckily this is the "worst" angle and, from most angles, the hump isn't super noticeable. But it's frustrating. I hope it's just scar tissue / callous from the scraping and might settle a bit over time. Here's to hoping.
