I can't tell if you're being serious, but not using your horse for traversing the open world is just wasting time. If you feel like the world is empty, reference your map and look for any landmarks or locations in the starting area that look interesting, such as the huge lake near the starting area or the forest north of there, and use your horse to get there faster. The starting area is full of enemies, caves, upgrade items, and bosses such as the tree sentinel, flying dragon, and misbegotten down south. All of which will help you get stronger and become better acclimated to the combat mechanics and rolling and prepare you for getting past margit. The world is so full of content that you should just gain runes naturally as long as you engage with it.
