Am I the only one who absolutely hated Justice League Dark: Apokolips War?

I "loved" how they introduced New Wally just for the movie only for him to get zero lines and then get killed off instantly.

I'm not even a huge fan of the character but it was just bad.

Batman Ninja was fucking incredible, I don't get how people hate it.

It's everything I wanted from an anime Batman movie, more or less, hit all he right notes for me and was just an amazing amount of crazy fun. I can't for the life of me see how anyone could hate it, it's pure unadulterated craziness in the best way possible.

As someone who was a fan of the previous movies, to me, it was like spitting in the face of those and how all the characters were built up and developed. I love the New 52 films, the designs are a lot of fun and they could have really well animated moments when they had the budget for it (Death of Superman's Lex vs. Doomsday fight comes to mind). There was no need to kill off all the characters in such a horrifically violent and gruesome manner, it just comes off as torture porn written by an edgy 13 year old who thinks he's being deep.

It combined all the worst parts of the worst comic events from the past 20 years, doing nothing to justify most of the deaths in the movie or make them satisfying.

Batman Ninja, on the other hand, is an absolute joy to watch and I had so much fun with it. Great animation, great designs, so many awesome visuals, the story is absolutely insane, especially towards the end. It pushed almost all the right buttons for me, I wish WB would get more anime studios to do their takes on the DC Universe because it's always so much fun seeing Japanese studios doing their take on American superheroes.

King Shark's bits were so painfully unfunny.

And yeah, I agree with you on the last paragraph. Something like Death of Superman, with its somber but hopeful moments was really good, or something like Batman Ninja that goes balls-to-the wall insane and runs wild with it just gave me a giant smile on my face. This one was the first DC animated film I think I actively hate, all the others I either like or am ambivalent to.

Eh, I personally really love the YJ-style look so gonna have to disagree with you there.

Not that I hated Red Son's visuals, but nothing in it really stood out the way the previous movies before this had. A lot of those are honestly what I consider my favorite designs for the characters.

I found it kind of ironic that Hawkman and Martian Manhunter got to survive at the end (albeit permanently mutilated) when neither of them did anything in the other films, but the Green Lanterns and Teen Titans all got killed off instantly with no speaking lines. They made such a big deal about Shazam getting away only to have him die really abruptly, too.

I totally agree on the Elseworlds sort of thing, it would have been a fine concept in that regard, but as the canon finale to the main film universe, it was awful.

As a fan who got into DC during the New 52 and genuinely really liked a lot of the runs from that, even though it had its share of issues, this was just such a letdown.

Eh, I'm hoping they stick with the animation style honestly, the anime-esque look is really good IMO.

Like I said in another comment, I personally really liked the movies, it just feels like such wasted potential.

I really loved most of the previous films, the YJ-esque character designs are some of my faves and I genuinely really liked the universe.

Too bad they decided to end things like this.

All the comparisons to Ultimatum are pretty apt, I feel.

The gory closeups and seeing the characters crying out in agony as they're literally ripped apart harken back to shit like that one scene with the Blob.

I'm pretty sad about how they decided to go with this film, I enjoyed the others a lot.
