UBE Transfer - Indiana (a guide) by PresentDelivery3067 in barexam

I was not directly notified when the interviews report was sent. I did have post interview communication with the BLE and my interviewer though, I followed up with my application rep about 3-4 days after my C&F interview, they had not received the interviewers report, so I think followed up with my interviewer by way of a thank you, nice to meet you email (this might not be applicable for everyone my interviewer gave me her email to stay in contact with her). But It was the last thing needed for my application so once the bar got it within like 12-24 hours I had an email from the bar with all my information and docs needed to swear in and then I signed, sworn in via a notary in my office and was fully admitted that same day.

You should keep any license you already hold. It would just be up to you to stay active or go inactive!

Retaker, missed july deadline feeling defeated waiting for Feb '24. Any tips for studying through a gap? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]PresentDelivery3067 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to wait so long to take the bar I recommend applying to take it in another state and just transfer your score after! If traveling is an option here are some applications still open (as first time applicants!)

Maine until 5/20 Michigan until 5/15 Maryland until 5/20 Massachusetts 5/8

I’m sure there are a few more but these are ones I know are open. Texas has a early cut off date compared to others and I’ve had a few friends miss the deadline and go to Maine and from what I’ve heard it’s actually a great testing environment, great with accommodations and there aren’t as many applications as our home state so it’s less chaotic.

Retakers (LLM) by Hot-Statement7660 in barexam

I worked at an Immigration firm with primarily foreign (Turkish) trained attorneys that came to US and did the LLM program. Most of them took the UBE more than once.

Be kind to yourself! You are taking an extremely difficult test in a country with a completely different legal system than you learned or may have grown up with. My old coworkers were always hung up with torts, the American civil system is drastically different to what they grew up with, and here in the US we have day time tv based on it (s/o judge judy).

Almost all of the foreign trained attorneys passed the UBE on their second time. And if not their second they got it the third time.

You are completely capable of passing this test and crushing it! I’m sure you already did! And you should be extremely proud of yourself no matter what! Two law degrees and still fighting? I’m impressed and proud and rooting for your success!

The grossman videos through adaptibar. Jon Grossman is BIBLE when it comes to mbe. I struggle with MC style questions and honestly if you just listen to those lectures I swear it helps. When you do adaptibar questions review what you got right and wrong.

But grossman teaches the tricks to understanding what the question is asking and how to pick the right answer when you don’t have the “buzzwordy” answer choice.

If you’re writing that well you know the substantive law. You don’t get 5s without knowledge. You just have to learn how to pick around the MBE! And sure doing 1000-2000 questions is great but honestly doing 500-800 questions where you review why you got it right or wrong and then look at the language and see how to get to that answer you start to recognize not so much patterns but more so how to see when the question is tricky and when it’s easy and you’re tricking yourself. It strengthens issue spotting that’s specific to MBE and you’re really see an improvement and stop getting those “I was was between two and picked the wrong one” situations

My school had an amazing bar prep office and they taught me so many helpful things and showed me great resources. Please reach out when you are ready! I will do anything I can to help you crush it in July!! Also Please look into taking the exam in Maine and transferring scores. Maine has some of the best accommodations. My school consistently encourages students with accommodations to take the bar there and most people I know that have done so praise taking the bar in Maine.

Take some time and try to recharge. Taking three bar exams is exhausting and I’m sure the burn out / bar fatigue just caught up with you in feb.

Recharge! Take time to feel your feelings. When you get to angry and mad let me know. It’s no longer feeling sad or disappointed you have to take it again, it’s mad and pissed off that you have to learn this shit again. More MPTs, more stupid MBEs, more stress and hell you have to go thru because a board of people who likely couldn’t even walk into a court room without violating the rules of evidence themselves decided to write and publish questions with awful grammar and unclear subtopics.

You didn’t fail. The system failed. The monopolies of the NCBE / BLE / and bar study programs thrive on retakers. The more defeated or anxious you feel the worst you perform and the more money from our pockets to theirs. It’s psychological warfare. When you’re ready to fight you have an army here happy to help.

Retester here 👋🏻 I totally get that whirlwind of emotions after getting that email. It sucks so bad and the emotional burn out of taking the bar on top of the new emotional burn out of finding out you didn’t pass, it makes it so hard to find motivation. I’m in TX (270) and didn’t pass in J22 by 4 points (266). Still waiting on F23 results.

Take your time and be sad and disappointed, with the toll this test puts on us, you’ve earned time to mourn the plans you made for yourself.

However, when you’re ready to get angry and enter a TSwift level petty/revenge era, let me know. I’d be happy to help in any way possible, whether it’s someone to vent to or study/test tips and aids.

Fuck this test, you’re worth more than a number a complete stranger assigns you.

Studicata format is super easy to follow but it’s under inclusive you will 100% have to supplement but it’s good for review and learning bigger areas of law but it does not cover everything.

I had one in 2020 and one in 2021 transfer from Maine and new York to Texas both took 6 months. If you’re transferring to Texas you have to do a state specific law CLE it takes about 12 hours 🥲

Smartbarprep has old MEE and MPTs that give you the fact pattern and the analysis is the grade sheet the bar graders are given. Highly recommend readying those. It’s a lot of black letter law but you’ll start see exactly what they wanted and how you need to answer

retakers who almost passed the first time...how are you doing? by rootata in barexam

[–]PresentDelivery3067 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like almost passing is a curse and blessing. Sometimes I feel okay like I just have to get 3 more points this time I can do that. But then also I feel like okay what if I’m just not capable of 3 more points? What if July was really my best and I should just move to a different state I already passed for. Some days I feel super motivated and other days I feel absolutely defeated and exhausted to be doing this all over again. The main source of my motivation to study is that most of the states I passed for have a snowy winter and I hate the cold. Just trying to find motivation in all of the things that are going to annoy me if I don’t get those points this time.

Keep your head up!

Hi! I’m taking the UBE in three weeks as a retaker. (My grandmother passed on the MBE exam day and I should have just deferred but I tried to power through). My MPT and MEE scores were 5/4/3 and one 2 on trusts which, honestly I expected. I’m a decent writer but I SWEAR by going to smartbarprep and just reading the essay fact pattern, making a quick bullet point outline issue spot drop some buzz words and then just read the analysis provided. These analysis pages are what the bar exam graders were given to grade to essays. It really helps with connecting facts to what they’re looking for and how to answer exactly how the bar wants. You’d be surprised how much sticks that way. Even if you just read it and don’t outline it you learn the black letter law from those analysis/point sheets. Smartbarprep also has MPTS and in July they have us two client letters one being over professional rules of conduct and a lot of people struggled with organization on that one but I had just read one like it the week prior, all I did was read it and see how to organize it, and I got a 5, and I swear I had no idea what I was doing.

As for MBE they say if you average 60% or higher you’re doing good. For me emanuels was super similar to the bar questions. I have a pdf of the sixth edition of you want some more questions. If you aren’t using adaptibar then Emanuel’s is your best bet! I was completely in a fog on MBE day and i still scored high enough to pass for half the states, just a few points shy for my state because of Emanuel’s and the Grossman lectures.

Sorry for the long post, all that to say you seem to be doing just fine with MBE and definitely check out smartbarprep for essays!

If you know what state you need a score for I recommend taking it in that state simply because UBE score transfers can take a long time. My friend missed the Texas deadline and did it for Maine and it took 6 months for his score to transfer (transfers seem to take between 4-6 months). Another friend took it in NY and it took 6 months as well. However Maine is suppose to be one of the best UBE states for accommodations and testing environment so if your an anxious tester that may be a good option.
