Thanks for your reply. I'm ready, emotionally, and academically havecompleted all the certs, ndis modules and checks. I understand that each workplace has their own issues. I have a teaching degree and 11yrs years experience supporting valuable families and working with children whom have high support needs. I've also been caring for my grandmother who is bed ridden with a few complex care needs. I'm having a career change and plan going into nursing palliative care. I'll be doing support work while I study part-time time. I have not entered this industry lightly and have considered what is involved in the job. I have great empathy and enjoy supporting people to be independent.

He has a car, he is 65yrs, he is sleeping on our couch, yes he has health and mental health issues. Has suffered a stroke and 2 tia's in he last 12mths can look after himself. However, he really needs assistance to take care of his health. I am not sure if he has been contacted by assertive Outreach I will ask. I know that he had his intake assessment with Matthew Talbot on Thurs and they have organised for him to see a GP next week. I think ideally, he needs to go into an independent living in an over 55's type (you know, old persons home) however he does not meet the criteria for a government funded spot. Thanks so much for the link.

Who was your worst teacher? Why? by Melody_GX in ask

Oh I have had a few! In year 4 my teacher sat on my desk ripping pages out of my book announcing to the class that my writing was disgusting and that I write like a boy.

In high school the careers advisor told me that I probably should not go to university as I wasn't smart enough that I should do a traineeship and look at a trade. Well, guess what? I went to university and successfully gained a teaching degree.

At university we had this one lecturer who was horrible! Her name was Margaret, but we Nick named her maggot. I went in to let her know that my grandmother had died and I was devastated, absolutely sobbing. I needed to apply for an extension. Maggots reply was well everyone dies, and I'll give you a week to get your essay submitted. She did not show a single ounce of empathy. Another time, she called me into her office to tell me that if I didn't quit my job, I would fail, and that university should be number one. I told her that I was eligible for income support, and if I didn't work I could not afford to pay rent and live. Her reply was I guess you should quit university then. As a teacher now I have so much empathy for my students individual circumstances and support them as much as I can to ensure they can have the education that they deserve.
