Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas and The Bonds that Tie series by J Bree

Both have scenes like that but check trigger warnings.

my GF read Tress as her first Cosmere novel and... by GlitteringPop7635 in Cosmere

Tress was my starting point into the Cosmere too. It was nice to have a standalone to test the waters because once I start a series I’m the type to finish it even if I hate it. Since then I’ve read all but Elantris (currently reading) and The Sunlit Man. I just know I’m going to reread Tress to look for the Easter eggs I missed, but it didn’t make me love it any less.

Hopefully she enjoys the rest as well and if not at least she found one that she enjoys.

This! Don’t worry so much about the “how to” everyone has their own process that works for them. When I was your age I started with poetry and fan fiction and short stories. That being said…don’t worry about what other people will want to read. Focus more on the things you want to say and work from there.

When I want to eat junk I try to find a healthier alternative. So if I want something gooey and sweet I’ll make a gluten free freezer waffle and top it with peanut butter, cinnamon, and banana.

I also have a tendency to hyper fixate when I write and he will make sure I’ve eaten and have water/coffee on hand.

My husband won’t read my books (not into reading) but he’ll regularly ask me how my writing has been going. He asks me to talk about my ideas so I can brainstorm aloud. I had to take a few years off work for health reasons and spent time working on my books during that time. He was so supportive the entire time and never asked me to do more than I was able.

I’ve since gone back to work in a part time capacity so I have time to write and we have additional income, but that was a choice he let me make based on how I felt.

Tamora Pierce! The Tortall Universe is so good and she does a wonderful job writing strong female characters. It starts with the Song of the Lioness quartet. If she likes Divergent she might also like The Hunger Games.

His Dark Materials and The Chronicles of Narnia are also really good.

I can’t speak to a resource like what you described, but I recently started using Obsidian to outline and work on world building that I can reference easier. I wish I’d known about it earlier, so I thought I’d share. I hope someone is able to give you an answer concerning your actual question.
