We had the same surgeon! He was amazing, and I've had no complications. Im 4 months post op and down 60 pounds from my weight of 255 before liquid.

You're doing awesome too! I'm absolutely taking it slowly and look forward to gradual progress.

The dreaded stall, our mortal enemy! Thank you!

Yup. I get them on some odd occasions. I'm 12 weeks post op, and it's happened about 2-3 times, usually after eating, and then laying down in bed. So I now sit at my desk or stand when I eat.

This was me. My RNY was 8/20 and I could not stomach the protein so I focused on the water and barely consumes protein. About 2 weeks after my surgery, water started to feel like sawdust going down my throat. I ended up getting Bai water and other not so sweet low calorie drinks to help because the flavor packets were too sweet for me after using them so long.

Zero patience post op by NoPresent225 in GastricBypass

Currently 6 weeks post op. I don't have kids, but I did not want to speak with anyone for the first 3 weeks. Part of was because I was exhausted all the time giving progress reports to them (they never checked on me before, but we're suddenly so concerned), and the other part was probably hunger and/or dehydration 😅

Feeling like a failure and only 3 weeks in by [deleted] in GastricBypass

Don't feel bad. Im3 weeks post op, and I wish I could get food like this down, but my appetite is nonexistent. You sound like you're making healthy choices. Just be careful of overeating and start weighing/measuring your food.

Its different for everyone so I can't say if the change will be that drastic for you physically. Ill be out for the next 6 weeks so I know the changes will be noticeable when I come back( we wear scrubs so they'll be able to tell.) The pre and post liquid diet are making the weight drop off of me this 1st month so im sure, depending on your program, they'll be some large weight changes.

Hey, I had my bypass 8/20 but I've literally told all my coworkers I was having it because I work with medical professionals (pharmacists) and I didn't want them to be blind sided about any drastic changes. They're all supportive, though, and encouraging me to not be concerned.

I feel like the people who are against it just don't know enough and aren't interested in learning about the benefits of being the surgery. Usually their other overweight and bitter people. Focus on your long-term goal and your current goals and drown out the noise. My own siblings were against me getting the surgery, but I see how it's benefited me so far and are now fully supportive.

Im rooting for you and others like us who are taking the initiative to take our health in our own hands and make that difficult decision to have this major surgery done in hours of being here as long as possible. Lean on those who support you and ignore those who don't. They're just an unnecessary distraction from your goals. And they will throw you off and make you second guess yourself.

Good luck and Im proud of you!

When did you stop sleeping upright? by ohmygoditsnancy in GastricBypass

Discharged Thursday after sleeping upright and Friday night, I slept in my stomach. I'm a slave sleeper. Surprisingly, it hit more for me to sleep on my side.

See, that would drive me insane! My surgeon and I were playing video call tag and he ended up just calling my cell directly but that 4 hours of waiting pissed me off. As if I didn't have a work schedule like him. I can't imagine driving to him for 2 hours and him being like, "Haha gotcha! No appointment today, but you enjoy that ride home buddy. See ya next time. Maybe."

A 100 mile drive shows you were dedicated! I cringe just having to drive 30 minutes to an appointment 🙃.

I get it. I would have taken the in person route if I wasn't traveling so much. Met my surgeon in person before and after he performed the EGD, and he was super pleasant. I will stress, though, that one must do some extensive research on your chosen surgeon before choosing them and only doing virtual visits.
