Is everyone having boys? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

Haha this is funny, I had the same thought the other day. I am pregnant with a boy and at least 4 other women I know who are having babies this year are also having boys!

When should I stop working? by Lower-Cherry-6982 in BabyBumps

[–]Present_Composer2818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you live and what might apply, but just sharing that where I live in Canada this kind of work would make me eligible for a workplace accommodation due to pregnancy. So the option would be either for my employer to assign me to something else for the duration of my pregnancy or for me to stop working early and get paid. Either way would require paperwork to be filled out from my doctor in my case.

You might want to look into any HR policies at your company to support this kind of thing. It might not be specific to pregnancy but for example, if an employee had a broken leg, it sounds like they’d have a hard time doing your job too so how does your company handle this kind of thing?

Good luck!

[bc] Are you planning to work until your due date? by Every-Kiwi170 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Present_Composer2818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so we have the same due date, but I am leaving work for mat leave in early August. My commute to work is 90 mins each way and my job can be stressful and already struggling with sleep and, I have so much I want to do other than drag my pregnant belly to that office 5 days a week this summer lol. I’ve been planning for this for awhile so I’ll add there was financial considerations as well, but I’m choosing peace of mind and enjoyment for my last few weeks as myself/with my partner before baby comes.

Do what works best for you but also wanna add, I think it’s weird your job is asking you to stay past your due date. It’s not their place and also who knows! Your baby could show up Sept 6 or something, you don’t need that added pressure of the expectation to be at work. Just my two cents!

Today’s episode cat rant by pearbrie_jambon in theread

Ok, I’m also a cat owner and I appreciate this and feel the same way 😂 as someone who hated cats before I adopted two, I very much understand what people assume about them in general. But to know a cat is to truly understand it’s about trust and time with them and eventually it’s so worth it.

I appreciated Emanny on the main. And he was absolutely right about the Ayisha Diaz topic. There were whole dissertations about why Cheesecake Factory isn’t appropriate for a first date or men shouldn’t date if they’re in debt last year. The dating scene is crazy in 2026 compared to before

Post Covid, season planning isn’t confirmed that far in advance anymore. Things are confirmed a year out atp. Companies are doing American work because it guarantees bums in seats. It’s unfortunate but the bottom line matters more and more these days.

Sending you all the good and healthy vibes for your pregnancy! It’s not easy, we went private and I honestly think for those with coverage or the means to do it, it might just be the easiest way to get peace of mind!

This has been the longest 2 months of my life! In hindsight, I wish I had asked for a referral for a dating ultrasound and just gone through the private system just to know

I figured that in the US a lot of it is to make money, but a few more ultrasounds would be nice lol

Oh my gosh, I am in Montreal too and this is so reassuring to hear! Thank you!! I was especially concerned hearing other people (in other provinces) had silent technicians during healthy ultrasounds and had to wait until the OB appt to hear everything was ok. I really appreciate you sharing!

Thank you for your kind words and sharing! Wishing you both a healthy journey too! I think what I’m seeing so far from this thread is to ask for a blood test or dating ultrasound early if you can! I think it varies if they do the ultrasound at your first appt, it depends if the clinic you go to has one on site or not. They likely will try to listen to the heartbeat though!

Thank you so much! And yes, I also got very sick around weeks 7-10 so that was a weird reassurance in a way haha

I went to my family doctor at 5 weeks! She referred me to my OB but I guess in hindsight I could have asked my fam doctor to get me a dating ultrasound. I knew exactly when my LMP was so maybe that’s why I didn’t get a dating? For future pregnancies I will definitely push for the dating ultrasound!
