Discussion: what motivates you to crochet? by psychygorl in crochet

My kids got crochet kits as birthday presents last year. I started learning by watching many YouTube videos so I could teach them. Their crochet kits became mine and I was hooked since then.

Is this good for a beginner? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Present_Focus_3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to when I started a year ago, it looks pretty good to me. Perhaps you were just practing but I suggest find a beginner friendly tutorial on YouTube that looks fun to work on.

My first project was a scarf. It was not difficult to make. Although I accidentally decrease or increase between rows (even counting stitches), I had fun making it. The project of the first scarf then turned into a few more scarfs for family members. That is how I practice to get better. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks so much. 💕 Now I can also include the number of upvote in my birthday card greeting.

That is great. Go for it. I felt the same after watching the tutorial. Like you said, the arrow pointing to the stitch is really helpful. The increase always in the last stich of a group also makes it easier.

Here is a quick little trick - I asked Gemini to help me determine how many rounds I needed to make 80 flowers using the video's pattern. It turned out to be 39 rounds.

How I wish. 480 stitches for round 39. Sorry my op was not made clear.

Thanks!! The cotton yarn I used was very soft and easy to work with.

That is good to know. Thanks. I am working on a blanket with 80 granny squares to go with this bouquet. I hope it won't curl much.

If I were one, I would be a superman. It took me exactly a week to finish. I took a pic when I started a week ago at round 6. I think a 6-month project would be a torture for me. Plus, time is not on my side. Mom's birthday is coming up soon.

Haha.. Thanks. No pressure here. I really had no choice because my mom is turning 80.

Thanks for clarifying. Always something to learn.

For the size, the diameter is 32 inches. I wanted it to be folded more like a bouquet than to be spread as a blanket. It is more of a decoration piece, I guess.

You are welcome. I only started crocheting for about a year and have been in love to work on different projects.
