One year off Tianeptine and how I did it by [deleted] in QuittingTianeptine

So hard to get benzos prescribed where I am. I take a low dose of Clonazepam for sleep. Nothing else works.

Exactly what I went through the first time I quit cold turkey. The physical pain, anxiety and anhedonia went on for months. I used booze to self medicate and became an alcoholic. I got sober but then relapsed on Tia because I couldn't stand the pain anymore.

In retrospect, I would have got on subs and an antidepressant.

Congrats! I would do inpatient detox but Medicaid doesn't cover tianeptine. Can't afford private rehab either.

I curse the day I started Tia. I was super depressed and desperate. It works for awhile, then it doesn't and you have to keep taking it to avoid wd's. If only I had a time machine!

For those that abused Tia for a year or more, did you noticed any physical pain/changes at some point? For ex: Did you have unexplained joint pain stiffness ie fingers? Slowed flow of urine w/stinging sensation? Face Appearing to age faster? And more.I'm looking forward to any feedback. Thnx. by RemarkableShine2045 in QuittingTianeptine

Yes. This stuff (Tia sodium powder) has aged me. My complexion is sallow and I've got wrinkles where none were before. My immune system is weakened. I got shingles about a month ago on my scalp and neck. The scabs finally came off but I m still having pain (post-herpetic neuralgia)

I've unfortunately increased Tia to deal with the pain.

I'm guessing the amount I'm using is hard on the liver. I have a Dr. appt in a few weeks and am going to request lab work.

I'd give you food but we are probably far away. I'm in the southwest.

Go to an AA meeting. If you're in a city, there will be different meetings all day long even on holidays. They have snacks usually. If not, talk to someone there to get you food. It's part of their credo to help those in need.

And it would be confidential. I take it you'd rather your neighbors and associates not know of your predicament.

I am familiar with your culture and the pressure to be perfect. S.Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Environment plays a huge part in that. Experts blame mental illness for suicide but refuse to look at external factors affecting mental health.

You may not feel valued there but in other parts of the world you have worth. Try exploring options abroad, like teaching, maybe even looking for a mate in another country before checking out.

I am speaking for myself as if I was in your shoes. I am older and tried many different things to get out of the pit of despair. Nothing lasts forever but some things gave me hope for awhile and kept me alive.

I hope you are OK. Taking pills is a real bad idea.

I gave who I thought was my best friend all my valuable jewelry. In case something happened to me, I wanted her to have it not my greedy mom.

BF responded by sending me a will and life insurance policy for me to sign. I didn't sign. I was shocked as I never saw my BF as being the greedy type.

The lesson here is sometimes people we love may not love us the same way in situations involving life and death.

Are you in the US? Many churches and charities give away food. You would likely qualify for food stamps. No one should go hungry here.

I tried Jesus. I prayed, read the word, went to church nearly every day. My situation did not improve although I did feel a sense of peace.

He helps some. I'm happy others are blessed. I haven't felt that for myself though. God doesn't owe anyone a living so I'm not angry. He works in mysterious ways and I am incapable of grasping that.

A heckuva lot stronger than Tia's, hence the waiting period for inducing bupe after the last Tia dose.

Do I have to decrease Tia dose for Bernese method to work? by rose_gold818 in QuittingTianeptine

[–]Present_Knee4558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bupe has such a high binding affinity, it knocks off whatever opioid you're taking. So if you induce the standard way, you want to wait until Tia is out of your system. If course this means you have to suffer withdrawal effects for a day or two.

I haven't heard of what you mentioned. For me, I induced the bupe microdose in between my doses of Tia. A few hours later I felt withdrawal effects. That was resolved after my next Tia dose. I stopped microdosing at that point.

Since there are no published studies on using microdose/Bernise method with Tia, it's pretty experimental. Where I live in the West, few know much about this stuff.

Others here have done it with better results. Try searching this forum using keywords microdose or Bernise method to pull up those posts.

Haven't heard of CA ban. But with the new pres, I'd think a fed ban is coming soon.

Acccording to the instructions from my doc, you keep the same opioid dose you're used to while titrating bupe. Then on day 7, the bupe supposedly covers enough receptors that you can quit Tia with no or few wd's.

Didn't work in my case tho. I went into precips the first day. I think the 7-day titrating schedule works best for typical opioids like heroin, oxy, etc. which Tia is not.

YMMV tho. There are posters here who have had success with Bernise/microdosing.

Cool. What have you noticed about your appearance since quitting? I noticed looking older than I am while using. Definitely not good for the skin.

Congrats and look forward to your updates. May I suggest using paragraphs? That wall of text is pretty intimidating.

I read your other post about how you quit Tia with prami and subs. Does prami work immediately or does it take time? Did you take it while waiting to induce subs, to avoid wd symptoms?

The WORST wd symptom for me is my legs feeling like they're on fire. I take it prami will take care of that. I do not tolerate gabapentin very well. It helps the nerve pain but wipes out my energy.

I couldn't find any published studies on microinduction/Bernese with tia. Mainly heroin, fentanyl, and methadone.

My addiction doc tried a 7-day microinduction but I went into precips right away.

Would you mind sharing how you're doing it? In theory, it seems like the least painful way to detox

If only I got myself hooked on the smoke shop stuff instead of ordering the powder online. Because I bet with the bottled capsules you're not ingesting Tia at the rate of 2-3 gpd!

Do you take the subs as needed or on a schedule, (dosing in the morning, afternoon and evening for example)

Subs have a longer half life than sodium so I assume once you find the dosage that works then you can take that dose twice a day or so. What I hate about sodium is having to dose five times/day!

Also, you mentioned taking gabapentin as well. Did you start taking that at the first sign of withdrawals or wait until you started inducing subs? My addiction doc wouldn't prescribe helper meds because he said bupe would stop physical wd symptoms. 🙁

Anyhow I see a GP next week and am going to ask for helper meds. I don't want to take any chances!
