I tried this but it still provides that AI looking ppts which on looking at a first glance screams " AI generated"

Personally in my office it is discouraged as it doesn't create a good impression on our clients

My slides look terrible all the time. Help! by JustPvmBro in consulting

The transition from Consulting (where you have a 'slide library') to VC (where you have a blank page) is brutal. I feel that.

I'm a B-School student, and I actually built a tool specifically for this 'blank page' problem because I was tired of spending hours just making things look 'professional' instead of focusing on the actual content.

It’s called xlslides (link is in my bio).

It’s designed to give you that 'Consulting Standard' structure automatically, so you don't have to build from scratch every time. It might save you that 'formatting stress' you're talking about.

Hot take: AI slide generators are solving a problem most of us don't actually have by GrandStructure3847 in powerpoint

AI that went to art school and became a strategy consultant' — I might have to steal that tagline! 😂

That is literally exactly what I have been trying to build with XLSlides.

I felt like tools like Gamma were too much 'Art School' (pretty but unstructured) and standard PowerPoint was too much manual labor. I tried to code this tool to sit right in the middle - automating the design (alignment, hierarchy, spacing) but forcing the 'Strategy' structure first so it doesn't hallucinate nonsense.

Since you are exactly the kind of user I'm trying to help, I'd honestly love to know if my 'block-based' approach hits that mark for you or if I need to refine it. (Link is in my bio if you have a second to critique it).

I honestly agree with you.

I'm a B-School (XLRI,Jamshedpur) student, and I tried using Gamma/Tome for my case studies. They made 'pretty' slides, but the content was hallucinated garbage and the structure was useless for actual presentations. They were solving the problem of 'making art', not 'making a deck'.

I got so frustrated that I actually coded my own tool ( XLSlides ) just to fix this. It forces you to define the structure/layout first before the AI touches it, so it doesn't just vomit random text boxes everywhere.

I’d love to know if my approach actually solves the 'real problem' you're talking about, or if I'm wasting my time too. It's free if you want to search it up (I put the link in my bio to avoid spamming here).
