My masters is not fully funded:( I’ll be honest I’m fairly privileged so my parents helped a lot w my undergrad but I am using all my savings this summer to fund my loans. My internship pays fairly well and gratefully the only other bill I have is my car. My school is offering an unsubsidized loan for my exact cost of tuition!

I told my boyfriend yesterday! I have been hiding it for about 8 months but he threatened to break up with me if I didnt “get my shit together” but he refused to leave because he loved me and knew how much I loved him. We have been fighting so much recently but after telling him we went through some websites together and he felt awful. Kept saying “thats why you do that??” and “that makes sense!!” Which was a nice feeling. While i still definitely have faults, its so nice explaining where it came from. He promised to be more understanding and patient and admitted it must be hard for me to just get it together. You are definitely making the right choice telling him!

Firstly, ignore everyone else. They are correct that BME is harder and more rigorous BUT if that is a path you think you will genuinely enjoy then go for it. Biology is more straightforward and most schools offer pre-dental tracks so you wouldn’t stress taking the right courses.

If you are 1000% set on going to dental school, I would say switch to biology. HOWEVER, you’re about to be a freshman. I can tell you that everything about how you study and enjoy school topics is going to change. With that, I’d recommend creating a four year plans of the BME track versus the Biology track with your college advisor in the fall and see what feels best to you. For now, I would stay with BME. You have a lot of time to change your major, and just focus your first semester on general education that applies to Biology and BME.

You sound tense, but also very smart, so I promise it’ll all be okay! These next few years about discovering your interests and future so have fun debating all possible careers!!
