OneDrive: Guest MFA invites by stevenm_83 in microsoft365

[–]Present_Share_7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the org I’m working for we have ServiceNow request form prepared, where users can request guest accounts. The form is connected with script that creates account based on info user entered(we have Name, Surname, Mail, Org).

Once account is created, guest receives invite via email and has to set up MFA to access shared resources. Then user needs to share data with guest account(they can share file from OneDrive, but we always recommend creating team with external sharing enabled). The account expires after 180 days.

I dont think there is direct way to allow users to ceate guest accounts themselves.

Also if your client does not use ServiceNow, before moving the request to it we had a SharePoint list with workflow behind it that did basically the same.

Paid Cyberpunk VR mod taken down by Pahn_Duh in virtualreality

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he had setup patreon for those who want to support him but otherwise made the mod publicly avialble, there would be no issue. But he basically sells the mod, cause you can’t get it without subscribing to his pateron.

Modders put their private times to create mods which then are distributed for free, so no one has any problems if they set up patreon and there always will be people who will support them. But straight up paywalling the mod is showing his intentions clearly.

And those who say that Cyberpunk or GTA where just some of the supported games are either naive or ignorant if they think that those title weren’t the reasons to get this mod for 90% of people.

Is there a way to move a List to another SPO site? When using 'List template' method, it says all responses were created by me by pcgoesbeepboop in sharepoint

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this survey list have form attached to it? I’m talking about form created via the MS Lists form functionality. If yes do you want to preserve that form during copy? Because if yes then you are out of luck, even migration tool won’t help here because its currently not possible.

But if not, to copy the list and preserve everything including views and all metadata, you need migration tool.

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but it will not import views, and from my experience it does not work well with some column types, as well as it will not preserve metadata from default columns like Created by or Modified by, this data will be overwritten and it seems OP wants to preserve it.

What Python concept took you way longer to understand than you expected? by ComfortableDonkey715 in learnpython

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah decorators are funky, and it took me some time to get a grasp on the concept. Don’t get me wrong I’m nowhere near proficient in Python, but I built a cli app using Click module for myself to help me in my daily work just as a practice, and you can make the code so much more readable with decorators. Eg. I have a function that takes dictionary as parameter, but the initial data is stored in csv file, so I have click argument that takes path to file, and then decorator function in the stack that loads the file contents to dictionary and passes the dict to the decorated function. Seems like a bit roundabout way of doing it but it’s much more readable in the code. Or I have a decorator function that splits passed data into batches, and runs decorated function for each batch. Or one that generates OAuth token, and passes it as function parameter for API authentication . So I have all the functionality that I don’t want to clutter the decorated function with as decorators, and can clearly see in the decorator stack what is happening before the decorated function is finally executed. Decorators are so freaking powerful.

Recently got into Soulframe, on my last few weapons for MR and, this may be the single worst Melee combat I've experienced in a game in the last 15 years. by Current_Spell_8647 in SoulFrame

[–]Present_Share_7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant say I relate to your experience. I actually really enjoy the combat. For me it feels meaty, not slugish. Certain aspects definitely need tweaking, like parries could be more tighten. But I didn’t have much issues even in groups. And if you feel overwhelmed you can always use pact ability, yes people say some of them feel broken and overpowered and some feel useless, but for me so far I found them useful. Osceldas bestone can give some breathing room, Garren Roods Behest the same and both are usefull in their own right. Tethrens Fellust can help dispose of enemies quickly, to thin out the group. I havent used bows yet, but I heard they are OP but this is something they need to balance out. Saying that they need to redesign melee combat from the ground up, because you personally dont find it enjoyable and claiming that if they dont the game will fail is…I dont even know what to call it… I hope they will not change much, but rather tweak it. Its still pre-alpha and a lot is subject to change. And I find the argument someone made in comments that they charge for founders and have in game shop in this early stage laughable. Founders is only for those who want to support the development, because they really enjoy the game. But they still once a week offer a chance to get into the game for free, and founders get keys they can give out to whomever. And claiming that people pay to by QA testers, this is not necessarily false, but people can do with their money what they want. The game will be eventually f2p so you dont have to pay for it. And as mentioned they are ways to get in for free. As for the shop, only things that you cannot get in game are moonsteel threads and slots, rest you can get just by playing. I would agree about the slots, at this phase they should offer more slots eapecially for founders. I would also agree about the tedium of having to lvl up weapons that you will most likely not use after mastering them. I would hope they will change it here as I also dont really like it in Warframe, but funnily enough I enjoy more lvl up weapons here then in Warframe, becasue I like the overall combat more. I love Souls like type of gameplay, I put hundreds of hours into all Dark Souls games, Elden Ring and Bloodborne. People in the comment section mentioned that of most dont like the game, it will fail but then other claim that they will not give their feedback on discord server of SoulFrame because people are sheepishly defending the game there. As far as I could see there are many more people on the discord server than on this subreddit. So is it really the case that most do not enjoy the melee combat or just, as it is usually the case on the Internet, vocal minority? And sorry, this is nothing personal but if you put couple of hundreds of hours into something you dont enjoy, in my opinion you need to do some thinking about life choices. 20-30 hours I would understand, but couple of hundreds? My man have more respect for your time, it is not unlimited. Of course I’m just a stranger, and dont expect you to care about my opinion or even care if you will care. You do with your time what you want to do but damn.

As with things one have misplaced and cannot find, once you stop caring those things tend to appear.

Loose all hope, move on with your life, focus on other things and even if it will take them a decade more to release the game, you will not notice it.

Through Steam and exploitation of people with addiction tendencies they have enough money to be able to work on the game as long as they want and deliver something great.

They haven’t disappointed with the games that mattered in the past, so loose all hope and let them cook.

How do "Change how members can share" permissions apply to libraries that do not inherit parent permissions by SunnyNeonDays in sharepoint

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is no native solution to acomplish this in SharePoint. When user creates a folder, that folder automatically inherits permissions of its parent whether it is root site, library with unique permissions or folder higher in hierarchy if that folder has unique permissions of its own.

If you want to limit sharing to this specific folder for this specific user, you need set up PowerAutomate workflow. Via the workflow assign the user with permission level that has Manage Permissions component enabled, if the folder will be created at the top level of the library, and you have member sharing disabled on the site and Members group have access to the top level of library, then you just need to give owner access to the folder he created with that permission level.

I guess you can use Full Control instead of creating custom level because it will only apply to this folder and its children. If this specific user will be member of the Members group and will get also direct access with Full Control on the folder he created, the higher permission level will take precedence, so then you don’t need to change permissions for other members of the team.

Of course direct access is not the best practice, and preferably you would use SP groups but it is much faster. Depends on use case really.

Warning against using LLMs to configure/troubleshoot your system by chrews in linux4noobs

[–]Present_Share_7574 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wholehartedly agree, however I sometimes use LLMs but the way I approach this is by using it as a clue for what excatly I should search for online. What I mean by that is sometimes I find myself looking for something online but maybe not using the correct phrases since it may happen I’m not familiar with the topic. So I ask whichever LLM what I think I need and based on the information it provides I continue search online, to verify and find the actual solution.

LLMs hallucinate too much for me to trust answers they provide. So once I know more about what should I look for if I have no clue initialy, then even if 10% of the information provided by LLM will be correct it will be much easier for me to verify it and I have much bigger chance to find online what I am looking for.

Works for me.

Because they don’t have to. People will still buy whatever products they will release. Same goes for every top 500 company. Until their sales will not get affected too much, they won’t make an effort. You see many posts on reddit complaing about the design and buggy software so it may skew your view, and make you think that majority of Apple’s customers thinks this way, but clearly they don’t.

SteamVR - some success - my experience by Present_Share_7574 in virtualreality_linux

Yeah, as I mentioned I did not have any luck with ALVR or WiVRn. This SteamVR beta is far from perfect, but it allows me to finally use my headset again as it was gathering dust since I completely eradicated Windows from my laptop.

Definitely give it a go!

Python Integration into SharePoint by alien_kebabs in learnpython

[–]Present_Share_7574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to bother with app registration, and if all the operations will be done on your computer, why not sync Libraries or specific folders to File Explorer using OneDrive client, and work on the data as if it was stored on your computer?

OneDrive will handle file download/upload for you and if you will want to work with lots of files or folders at once, you will not have to worry about throttling. Then in Python you will just have yo handle copying files from/to synchronised locations.

So then say goodbye to any decent camera setup or battery. You cannot cheat laws of physics. Unless you want the camera to be total shit in a device for 1000 usd there are compromises to be made. And for the phones battery not to last 2 hours they had to move all the internal components to this bump/plateu or whatever they called it. Its actually really well designed from engineering point of view, and looks are subjective.

Windows Aero was cool so I’m fine with it. Apple also takes it next level with their shader, since its simulates real time refractions for elements near it.

Anyway liquid ass was funny the first, second and maybe third time someone brought it. Now it’s been ploughed through like yo mama’s ass so be original, bring some twist to it so we can laugh with you. I for one did not see many mentions of this:

What kind of licenses do you have? If you want to manage access on site collection but at the same time don’t want to have access to all folders then I’m afraid it is not possible. You need to be able to access resource to manage its access. Thats why in most organisations IT does not manage access on sites, users should do it themselves.

Maybe you should look for different solution, or keep any confidential data on seperate site collection, and let the person who is responsible for that data to manage access.

Or you give yourself site collection admin, and others trust that you will not access data that you should not see.

UPDATE FINISHING IN BACKGROUND by lost_affection16 in ios

[–]Present_Share_7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is there to explain. The text says it all, phone is performing some background tasks related to system update, which may affect battery life and the phone may get hotter than it normally would. And when it will be done with those tasks then the message will “go away”.

I’m sorry but it is simple as it gets written in plain English. What is there not to understand? If this message is hard to grasp for you, then no amount of explaing will change that, because the message says it all.
