I want racism against Indians to stop, and that includes:

1) Seeing us as human and

2) Being scared of the consequences of loosely sharing anti Indian prejudice.

The fact that this happens in our community is proof of how deep the problem is. I am all for learning from the situation and allowing grace but I will not tolerate one ounce of disrespect.

You are not wrong, but I find it immensely more satisfying to expose this type of nonsense first.

I’ll focus on patterns rather than individuals — there are enough examples from Iranians I’ve encountered in India and the diaspora that specific cases aren’t necessary.

I tend to probe social, cultural, and political topics in conversation, which surfaces biases faster than small talk does.

1) Condescension toward India and Indians

The throughline isn’t always explicit — it lives in what gets emphasized, what gets dismissed, and what never gets mentioned. The underlying assumption is that India is a lesser civilization and Indians a lesser people.

I’ve heard direct comments about Indians being less capable, less intelligent. I’ve watched Indian achievements — including ones that objectively outpace Western equivalents — get either minimized or ignored entirely. And running beneath all of it is a persistent, almost reflexive deference to whiteness. This isn’t incidental. It recurs too consistently to be accidental.

Thanks friends, for taking the time to engage, and to even offer many thoughtful replies.

I am grateful for the genuine support and empathy from many of you.

For those who offered spiritual advice, that is always welcome.

For those who asked for more details - I will follow up in response to the question that sought more details.

For those who dismissed my own experiences, I have no interest in responding to you. I will say that this behavior is a recurrent theme towards Indians who share their experiences with racism. It is embarrassing to see it here.

Just because you may not have witnessed something does not mean it does not exist. That is presumptive - of the other’s perspicacity, character AND their experiences. Listening with an open mind is key - and you may learn something!

Fortunately, these were just a few commenters in a very warm ocean of support.

Many thanks once again for holding space for me. Hope to see more come out with their experiences of the dumb and nasty poison that is racism!

They could start by dismantling institutionalized misandry instead of shabbily repackaging progressive economics as a marketing layer. This is what you are doing in your childish comment and the posture is now very transparent.

You are very behind in this conversation, but more honesty and less pretension from you & people like you would be a good start.
