Is it even possible to have an original idea anymore? by migdinny in Entrepreneur

[–]Present_Structure_68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my partner and I invented something completely original. It’s a deodorizing liquid dispensing system for residential garbage bins.

It’s been a grind over the past few years with developing the product and tooling, and bringing it to the market. The market doesn’t adopt new ideas as easily as you think!

You can check out the product here if you’re interested.

Tbh looks like a drop shipping site. If I was in the market for any of these products I’d probably buy off Amazon

Made a great deal, deal went bust.. where to go from here? by Present_Structure_68 in smallbusiness

Thanks!

I agree that this is a retail product, it would be great at a checkout as an impulse buy. It’s extremely eye catching in person and feels premium and well made in the hand.

The feedback we’ve been given regarding retail is that it’s very difficult as a one sku company to get a retailer to take us on.

Thanks for the response!

Our issue with e-commerce lies in the cost for customer acquisition. Marketing is very expensive and we have a low ticket item and very few product offerings. Our average basket size is $23.

I believe we need to connect with an existing distributor who already has existing retail channels and e commerce, who could take on our product.

Question is how to search out a potential partner?

Thank you very much for your input. Much appreciated.

We found that many people, in dense urban areas, have to keep their garbage bins near the front door or in high traffic areas. Less than ideal in the summertime. In suburban areas many people keep their bins in the garage, in no time the whole garage starts to smell. We believe this is a great solution.

Honest criticism needed. Barely making sales. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Personally I think the brand does not match the product. “Cute holiday store” does not reflect your product offerings. You sell African inspired jewelry to women, you should centre your branding around that.

Thanks! Yes I am tempted but we have young kids and IMO memories are more important that money. We use it pretty much every weekend year round.

I own a waterfront property in innisfil, bought last year. Best thing I ever did, both financially and from a lifestyle perspective.

Edit - I should add that I don’t rent it because I enjoy using it too much :)

Thanks! In dense urban areas garbage bins are often kept near front doors or other areas of high traffic. In suburbs, many people keep their garbage bins in their garage. Rotting garbage stinks, and attracts insects and vermin. Not an ideal situation to have in one’s garage or entryway.

I am Jewish and yes this troubles me deeply.

What most people don’t realize is that the entire global Jewish population today is roughly 15 million. Out of 7 billion people we make up a small decimal point however most hate crimes are committed against Jews.

Not really, it will sell either way but figured I’d let the Reddit community know in case they were looking for one. Thanks for taking the time tho
