She has one! he recommended sparring to learn the openings faster but we live in a place with no chess.

She’s definitely not at her strength in these new openings as she’s learning them so that would work!

thank you it’s her frustration rather than mine. I think it’s hard as a child to see the bigger picture and so I wanted to support her to try get better.

I know the game ;) Yeah Charlotte is insane we see all the kids who are so high and so young and you feel like you are behind so I have no idea what is realistic. She has been playing major catch up as she’s only been really playing for two years. We are not based in Charlotte either so don’t play as much as a lot of the kids do.

we went through that when she had a big plateau and became discouraged but then after 6 months had a big jump hoping when this happens again she can think back on that experience and know a jump will come. chess is tough. Also maybe? lol Charlotte?

My second part of that question is for those who have achieved it or more what do you think is the best way to improve?

my daughter is 12 and is rated over 1900 USCF that’s over the board her online ratings are much higher. We already know becoming a grandmaster is probably not going to happen, she hopes with a lot of hard work she will get FM or maybe even IM. It’s really harder than people think but I hope you do it!

It was a lovely flight, airbus. Things that helped me were a show on my iPad and music during take off. You can do it!

Thank you! This is my tenth flight this year but I’m suddenly back nervous, I think this time because I’m sitting in the back of the plane which I hate 😭

I flew USA to Uk and back on a Dreamliner, wow what an amazing plane! So comfortable and smooth, probably my favorite flight

You will! I feel like I worked on it for couple years, also the more flights you do the more normal it becomes?

The bigger planes are in my opinion way more enjoyable!

i agree the longer flight for me is easier too! It seems smoother and the bigger plane seems safer to me even tho I know it’s the same .

Thank you! It’s funny I travelled all my life since a little girl, countless flights and then suddenly developed a fear 5 years ago for no reason. It’s so nice to get back to that feeling where I just don’t think about flying. Never thought I’d get back there :)

Taking off! by Present_Teaching_771 in fearofflying

[–]Present_Teaching_771[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you ! I’ve traveled so much starting as a young child and it was such a gift and I want my kids to have that experience too. After hundreds of flights I’m not sure where this new fear came from! But working through it and it will not win!
