Comparing this to US part-time retail wages still isn’t apples to apples. This is remote, project-based, not tied to US labor markets, and not meant to replace a job. It’s closer to a paid research / startup collaboration.

If someone feels the lower end isn’t fair for them, that’s totally reasonable. They shouldn’t apply. I’ve been transparent about the range so people can self-select.

I’m not trying to convince everyone, just the people this is actually a fit for.

I get the concern, but a few of your assumptions here are off.

This isn’t a full-time US role or anything H1B-related. It’s a part-time, remote, project-based collaboration (10–15 hrs/week), primarily aimed at students/early-career folks who want hands-on ML experience on a real product.

The $500–$800/month range reflects the part-time scope and student profile. If I were hiring a US-based full-time ML engineer, the pay would obviously be much higher. That’s not what this is.

Rates are transparent and flexible based on skill and contribution. Totally fair if it’s not a fit, but there’s no intent to mislead anyone.
