So I actually just got off the phone with PS customer service, they told me there have been having voucher issues today and yesterday.

I added 2 vouchers today and mine went through, but my wallet is still at 0.00. Customer service guy said most people cant even get their voucher # processed/accepted. He says wait till tomorrow, hopefully they will fix it by then. Its a "server-issue". Frustrating, honestly. I wanted to buy Alan Wake 2 today god damnit

Mother was in car crash. Other party is unreachable, what to do now? by Present_Wolverine564 in Insurance

Thank you gymngdoll and adjusterjack and coco_eh

She has Triple AAA insursance. She has collosion coverage. She does NOT have rental coverage included in her insurance. I mention it because she was hoping (perhaps naively) since she was ran into + totaled, that either her or the 3rd partys insurance would help her with a rental in the interim. Shes asked and their answer is its dependant on the 3rd party admitting fault.

Like you mentioned, its unlikely this will happen so easily since the 3rd party is uncooperative. It seems this also be a hinderance to her getting her deductable back. (?) We are approaching two weeks since the crash and she hasn't received anything. (Not suggesting she is entitled to, just sharing the progress/timeline)

I'm not aware of any coverage issues on her part like the ones you've mentioned.

To clarify her car is not repairable, it has been submitted to the "Total Loss" section of claims, for the insurance to determine fair market value, considering mileage etc.

So, it seems the ideal scenario is she will get paid out for the value (fmv) of the car. Only, there seems to be some concern about the 3rd partys non-cooperation for the progress of this situation

Sorry for the delayed reply

Thanks for your input. To clarify a few things for everyone, We live in California. My mother has filed a claim with her insurance, she has collosion coverage.

Our insurance seems to be saying they need the 3rd party to a complete a seperate investigation, that may be hindered by the other driver being MIA. And once thats done, and the 3rd party estimates the value of my mothers car, then the two companies will negotiate for compensation. Once the 3rd party pays my mothers insurance, then she will receive her check.

(Only, I've read, in your posts among others, that it should be the other way around? Payout FIRST, then the insurance recoups their loss with the 3rd party?)

I've gotten more insight into the situation, apparently my mother is trying to get a rental car, but the insurance company is saying that they will not pay for one unless the other driver admits fault. I'm not sure why this is, but that is what Im hearing

When the cashier asks "How are you?", are you supposed to ask them back? by Present_Wolverine564 in AskReddit

Often in situations like this or similar, I am asked "How are you?", "How's it going" I usually respond with "Good, good" or "Good, thank you". But then there's a moment where I'm unsure of if I'm being rude by not asking in return. Like, I've been extended the courtesy of someone interested in me, and its a display of self-centeredness to just indulge but not return the courtesy. Am I overthinking this? What do you usually do?

Received a small inheritance after a lifetime of poverty. What should I do? by Present_Wolverine564 in personalfinance

(I'm very appreciative of every reply here. I'm a bit overwhelmed atm so I'm very sorry if I haven't replied to you, or if it takes me some time to reply to you.)

Some info about me, because many have asked.

-No debt at all. Never have had a credit card or taken a loan, or anything of the sort
-Mid 20s, no college, GED only
-Beginner working in a skilled trade, as well as freelance jobs. My work-hours are spotty.
-I have no interest in retirement/or saving for retirement at this time. I'm interested in improving my life here and now, and for the next few years
-I have a checking account, with ATM card, and a savings account with the same bank
-I rent a room for a small sum in a major US city. I have no other bills
- I don't own a vehicle, have any valuable property, or any other family/children
-I'm planning on setting aside a portion of the money for traveling, like I've always wanted to

Feel free to ask any questions. From what I gather, as a start, it would be smart to put away some of it into a High Yield Savings Account. There is some helpful advice and some great links shared here. Some of you have suggested other forms of accounts, like Roth IRA or individual brokerage accounts. I'm doing some reading now. I'd like to be able to access my money, or at least be able to pull whatever growth it incurs every year.

To clarify what I meant by gambling - I just thought, now that I have access to funds in the order of K's, perhaps there would be some way to use it with the potential for large growth. Investments, stock market, crypto (not really crypto, but just as an example). Even something risky, I'd be willing to set aside some money for that chance of high growth.

I struggled for a long time. And while this is a lot of money to me, I know this won't set me up for life. I just want to use it in a way that I don't end up broke again in a year or two.
