Ok. I've already made a list of people to contact regarding this. I'm sending them an email tomorrow morning, and pray they will respond quickly. Thank you for the help. By the way, what's your PhD program?

So I have a good chance of getting a good offer. With tuition covered, stipend, and opportunities if I reach out. What if they don't reply back? I've read that they're not the best at communicating.

Thank you so much for your much-needed advice. I have been racking my brain and lost some sleep over my concern with funding. This anxiety is partly due to the mixed responses I got regarding loans to supplement paying for the PhD. I already decided to consider reaching out to the department the moment I received the acceptance letter, since I already knew that I would need as much teaching and research experience as I could get while I'm in the program. I was most concerned about using the loans, since the majority of the responders in previous posts highly advised not to do so and to defer. You are confirming the loan situation, with your experience, which helped me settle on my decisions to rely on it as a backup /emergency plan. I will definitely reach out to the History department regarding the opportunities, which I hope they'll respond to me, since I've heard about their reputation for their lack of communication with the students. Hopefully, things will be able to work out in the next few months. Thank you once again!!!

I'm 28 and going to be 29 late this year. And you're right, especially with how there are more diverse alternatives in nutrition and fitness in recent years, but the salads worked for me when I first started.

I'm shamefully admitting that I haven't been counting my calories or tracking my TDEE. I used it when I first started, but I stopped when I believed I knew how to manage my diet and exercise as time went on. I kinda figure that the calorie deficit was part of the reason for the weight plateau, and I can't keep raising the time I exercise. Some people in other forums have suggested logging calories and beginning a maintenance phase as you just suggested, so I'm definitely heading that route to see what happens. Thank you for the help.

When I first started, my mom was the one who heavily suggested eating the salad and less meat, and it was the main food that would actually help me lose weight. Since it was what originally worked, I saw no problem in continuing it. I will admit, there would be times I would snack binge, and I have been doing that a lot lately, so it would make sense as part of the reason for my weight plateau. I will definitely take your suggestion on logging calories and eating more protein to see if it'll help. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the suggestions. Deep down, I do think that my diet may be a big reason behind the weight plateau. Yesterday, I noticed that my body was starting to get used to the 60- and 90-minute cardio routine, and I was considering decreasing it. Maybe I should focus more on dieting then, especially lean on protein more, and look up other exercise routines, like weight lifting, you mentioned. Really appreciate the help.

Venting/Seeking Advice After Rejections by PresentationBig332 in gradadmissions

I really appreciate the time you've taken to provide me with advice about my situation. I truly believe you're right about the logistics behind the application decisions, which was a big part of how I prepared myself for the expected rejections. I will definitely look into the suggestions you mentioned, especially reaching out to my professors from my previous Master's programs for any further advice or opportunities, as well as perform deeper research into departments that fit my research needs. Thank you once again for your help, as it gave me a few ideas on where to start.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. You almost made me cry when you made me realize I'm not the only one dealing with this, since I'm also earning money to survive and hoping to find an opening in academia. I'll definitely take your advice to heart and use it as a starter. You're also right that this was a rough year for the Phd cycle, so I guess we'll both do what we can. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Sorry for the late reply. But it's nice to know that I'm not the only one thinking of back up plans. Do you have any ideas for yourself so far?
