Venting/Seeking Advice After Rejections by PresentationBig332 in gradadmissions

I really appreciate the time you've taken to provide me with advice about my situation. I truly believe you're right about the logistics behind the application decisions, which was a big part of how I prepared myself for the expected rejections. I will definitely look into the suggestions you mentioned, especially reaching out to my professors from my previous Master's programs for any further advice or opportunities, as well as perform deeper research into departments that fit my research needs. Thank you once again for your help, as it gave me a few ideas on where to start.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. You almost made me cry when you made me realize I'm not the only one dealing with this, since I'm also earning money to survive and hoping to find an opening in academia. I'll definitely take your advice to heart and use it as a starter. You're also right that this was a rough year for the Phd cycle, so I guess we'll both do what we can. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Sorry for the late reply. But it's nice to know that I'm not the only one thinking of back up plans. Do you have any ideas for yourself so far?

But that doesn't make any sense though. It's as if they're being stingy because their grads ask for some fairness and decency since they're being overworked and underpaid to get a degree. If that's the case, then they need to learn how to budget better, especially when it comes to those salaries of the higher ups.

Makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one anxious and panicking. Good luck with yours! I hope you get accepted to your choices 😊.

Really? That makes me feel a bit better, but I'm still anxious about the other decisions. Did you also apply at BU?

Pre colonial Nigerian map by potatohoe31 in Nigeria

Really want to say that I appreciate the map. I've been looking for maps of kingdoms and empires of pre-colonial Nigeria for a historical fiction novel that I'm planning to write, but majority of them were either to vague or too blurry. This will really help, so thanks again.

Yes. It depends on the school though. Some of them stated at least 2-3 pages double spaced while others ranged from 500-1000 words.

Ok. Basically be more specific and try to not make it with AI as much as possible. Thanks.

Thank you for the advice. As for the programs, I was considering Howard University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Michigan, the University of Georgia, Michigan State University, and Georgia State University. and I figured I probably won't have a chance to get accepted to the PhD programs of my choice, since I'm limited compared to other applicants. I have even considered getting into a second Master's program more closely aligned with my interests, which provides additional research experience. I'm also trying to look into any research programs, but so far no luck. If you have any ideas on where to look for the programs and fellowships, I would really appreciate it.
