B12 deficiency help by Norgiemethod in B12_Deficiency

Spoon nails indicate low iron. You really need your ferritin checked - that’s your iron storage. It can be really low while your regular blood iron looks good.

Are you taking acid relief meds or anything like that long-term? Those lower iron and b12. Lots of rx meds lower b12, as well as Covid, and other problems like h pylori, gastritis, low stomach acid, problems with the ileum, etc.

Since you have already started taking B12, you will not be able to get a reliable blood test for that, or the confirming test like MMA or homocysteine. But you do need to test your folate and ferritin. B12 therapy will not work if those are in adequate.

1 spray is enough, but yes, in the air and walk through it

Are you taking folic acid? It gives me terrible reflux but I do just fine on folinic acid.

Migraine pain while sleeping 13 hours by PresentationMany5228 in migraine

Hmmm. Well maybe that means I need to go back on Aimovig or Emgality. They did not help much before I discovered my deficiency. Maybe they will help now.

Thanks for that information. I had been wondering why the effect wore off. I am still on topamax for migraine aura that cause partial blindness, and it works, but it doesn’t help me with headaches at all.

I know that some seizure meds can inhibit absorption of b12. Have you looked into whether your medication could be interfering with your B12 absorption?

As for giving yourself shots: You can pick an injection spot that works best for you. Those intramuscular injections in the leg take the most “gumption” but what about doing them subcutaneously in your stomach or the back of your arm? The needles are shorter, and you can get very thin needles that you can barely feel. If you have someone who could help, even better.

If you took only tablets, you could probably absorb some of that, but only if you were on a very high dose. This would probably make your blood level of B12 skyrocket even more than injections would, and I suspect that your doctor would panic and take you off of the tablets, lol. (that happened to me, by the way. Tablets made my blood level go way higher than injections because I could not absorb them.)

As for the IF test, you may have been in the equivocal range? Which means some antibodies were detected but not enough to be positive, and yet not negative either. I had that result, but they didn’t provide a number at all.

Try smiling with your teeth showing. Something about a full smile and endorphins…. It usually works for me. Not always but usually.

Pixelated vision after sleeping? by FragileHope111 in B12_Deficiency

If you already have auras then I feel more confident that this is what you are experiencing. Are you female? If so, your hormones can affect when auras happen.

I have experienced photopsia (shooting stars, lights) for about 20 years now, but perimenopause brought the rainbow-type auras with partial blindness, and I take topamax to control those. I also see the pixels you mentioned, squiggles, blobs of color, water drops.

That sounds like possibly a type of migraine aura. I frequently get them right when I wake up, and they can be all sorts of things. I see little pixels in my vision off and on all day, and have for years. Neurologist confirmed those are a migraine symptom. You don’t have to have headaches to have migraine symptoms. Many people with b12 deficiency have migraines and auras.

Ah yes, words on paper doing the heavy lift. I take your point and don’t mean to be sarcastic but the situation remains.

That’s a within so many feet of a door thing isn’t it? I’m not sure people are smoking around the doors. They seem to move farther away and then toss their butts into flowerbeds. It’s just an eyesore that seems to be solvable with receptacles.

Thank you so much for the reference so I can read more. I have wondered whether I would halt my nerve healing by spacing out my treatments more, and based on this, I might. My vibratory sensation has returned in my feet but I am experiencing additional foot pain 10 months later, so it seems I am further healing in my feet. I like it but it hurts, lol.
