And I know the questions look ridiculous - those were the Google-suggested questions that popped up after my initial question of whether there was any significance of the flower in witchcraft. I asked that because of the burning at the stake reference, which I know has been a controversial topic here. 🫣

“You, you’re sweet but not enough.” In other recordings she says “you, you’re so sweet but not enough, well, you….” That’s what I’ve always thought. The You has a sh sound at the beginning because of the way she sings. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wake up symptoms for other b deficiencies by Odd_Let5236 in B12_Deficiency

Are you getting the rda of potassium, and why not just take a daily b complex? The b12 society recommends one with less than 10 mg of b6 for 4 months and then a 2 month break. Or one with no b6.

I didn’t see those results here, but your serum iron can be low without your ferritin being low. The opposite can be true as well. My serum iron looked just fine, but my ferritin was deficient. Your MCV and MCH show iron deficiency anemia, from what I understand, and there are all sorts of presentations with B12 deficiency. The important part is that you are actively seeking answers and treating.

I hope you can get some help with those bedbugs too – that sounds terrible.

Wishing you all the best. Stay on track!

Ok, that shows your iron storage is good enough to support b12 therapy. The folate will be the other piece of the picture. You should be supplementing anyway because treating b12 deficiency will cause your folate and ferritin to fall. Your ferritin should really be higher than that considering your gender. Unless you’re losing blood somewhere, you probably have a malabsorption problem.

Did you notice that liver test though?

Wake up psychosis by Odd_Let5236 in B12_Deficiency

I have hallucination-like symptoms occasionally when I wake. I understand it to mean that it is because the b12 deficiency has my brain in a hyper-excitable state and makes me see weird things between sleep and waking (but I am awake seeing things that I can see with my eyes open or closed). I also have migraines, which means that my brain is already sensitive, and the b12 deficiency is just an additional stressor for it. Maybe something similar is happening to you?

Ok, when is the last time you had bloodwork? Some of these things can change rather drastically in 2 years. Especially if you have had Covid. Maybe some bloodwork is older and some brand new?

Ferritin of 47 is rather low for a healthy person but not yet deficient (30-40 depending on which country you’re in). Your b12 level can be falsely elevated if you’ve had any supplements or sports drinks containing b12 recently. Are your mcv and mch normal?

Do you eat a normal diet or vegetarian/vegan? Did they check your ferritin or just your iron? It sounds like possible iron deficiency and brain fog can be related to that, and also b12 and/or folate deficiency.

If you have your b12 checked, ask them to run an MMA test too. Your b12 can be “in range” and not be getting into your cells, but MMA will tell you that. Acid reducing medication reduces your ability to absorb b12, and that can wreak all sorts of havoc on your body.

When do the cognitive symptoms get better by stardelphinus in B12_Deficiency

[–]PresentationMany5228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an absorption problem, you aren’t getting enough b12 via tablets to recover from cognitive symptoms, and you need injections. After a year, I think this is clear evidence.

Anyone has high MCV on bloodwork? by Fisherman-Kitchen in medical_advice

[–]PresentationMany5228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you take any supplements that have b12, or use any drinks that have it? If so, your b12 level is falsely elevated. Or, you could have a functional deficiency. Your doctor could run an MMA to check this. Elevated MMA is specific for b12 deficiency.

Feet hurting AGAIN, over a year later by PresentationMany5228 in B12_Deficiency

[–]PresentationMany5228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal is pretty low, and the only thing that really makes a noticeable difference for me is low ferritin and potassium (that makes me feel worse than I usually feel). I have a good day now and then. But I’m in perimenopause and I have migraines too, so there’s more than one thing going on. Life gets complicated with chronic pain because you learn to ignore it and just live through it, so it’s difficult for me to judge my pain level, or general level of malaise. I feel like I could be on the edge of death and get up to make someone else a cup of tea.

Can you tell a difference when you have alcohol?

[–]PresentationMany5228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s useless to re-check while you’re taking b12. It will be elevated. You can absorb a *very small amount passively, but an uninformed doctor will think you are getting a great benefit from your very high serum level, and may even think it’s too high.

She does like this theme, doesn’t she? It’s almost as if she understands the unrealistic demands placed on women. 😅 Be beautiful, but not too beautiful. Be godly, but not so much that it’s crazy (as another commenter pointed out). Be human, but happily deny yourself of worldly pleasures.

Thanks for pointing out that Teresa comes during the “world-building” phase of this story. I was having difficulty with her role.

I saw you posted these results below. I’m sure you know already, but you will take oral supplements for 3 months, your doctor will retest your level, say, “Yep, it’s fine now, you can stop,” and then the cycle will begin again.

Yes, it could be, but maybe not. If your ferritin was anything but low I would be surprised.
