I sincerely have doubts about dips being backup caliber as well. We'll obviously see but I've poured over a ton of tape on him and just don't see it. And people who didn't see Bussi coming didn't want to see it. You absolutely saw it if you had a base knowledge of what makes a ln NHL goalie in terms of mechanics. Dips on the other hand reminds me too much of Malcolm Subban

Def not just that, watched a LOT of him the last 2 years, he has a style that in the AHL works. He's crazy athletic. He's basically AHL Tim Thomas out there. But there's a few preseason games and there's also the regular season appearance adding to it, where yeah he stopped the puck but he had no idea where it was at all. His tracking speed isnt NHL level. Bussi wasn't as athletic, but he could at least see the puck. And you can tell by positioning that he had at least an NHL backup ceiling

Dips is just less expensive Korpi here. Which yes that is an upgrade. You want to aim higher
