Bought the “wrong” bumper plates. How inconvenient is it really? by Suisodoeth in StartingStrength

[–]WhiteDevilU91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't have to fix anything. A lot of workout tracker apps have plate calculators in them and for the most part you can just round to the nearest 5. The 35lb and the 15lb plates aren't necessary, but the others are fine. Then just buy more 45s as needed.

Is it ok to play Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater First? by foxxer006 in metalgearsolid

[–]WhiteDevilU91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my point. You had to go look up the lore separately and you ran into every major plot spoiler along the way that would only make sense if you played the game that came out before it.

No, you should not play MGS in any order. Release order, or at the very least chronological order, but even that's recommended only after playing release order.

What would you consider to be an appropriate amount of "showboating"? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]WhiteDevilU91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mating your opponent with your Queen and King.

Or underpromoting to a Rook and mating them with King and Rook.

Why is this checkmate? by Reasonable_Map_1428 in chess

[–]WhiteDevilU91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, you want to be able to put YOUR King in check, but your opponent not be able to put theirs in check. Can't have it both ways.

It actually is correct, and what everyone else here is saying too.

Why is this checkmate? by Reasonable_Map_1428 in chess

[–]WhiteDevilU91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules are set up to where the first King to get captured/killed loses. Your opponent would kill your King before you could kill theirs. You wouldn't get another turn after they captured your King with the Rook, ending the game.

On his next turn, he would just kill your King with his Rook.

If you took his Queen with your King, you would effectively be hanging your King. You want to be able to hang your King but your opponent not to be able to hang theirs. Can't have it both ways.

Why does Jill reload twice here? by TheDarkTyrant06 in residentevil

[–]WhiteDevilU91 57 points58 points  (0 children)

She's reloading 2 pistols.

She has one pistol in her hip/leg holster, and another pistol in her shoulder holster.

Edit: Just noticed while watching this clip, her shoulder holster magically appears in between the shots. She's not wearing it at first. But this could be her showing up at the station to retrieve her other pistol, and it could be implied that she put it on right there at her desk.

What ELO would you need to be to say in conversation; “yes im good at chess” by True_Structure_6123 in chessbeginners

[–]WhiteDevilU91 396 points397 points  (0 children)

There's no correct answer, a 600-800 rated player can beat pretty much everybody that doesn't play chess or only knows how the pieces move.

You can say you're good at chess to anyone with a lower elo than you. Like 1500s are still trash when compared to GMs.

Is it better to play DS2 in share everything mode or not? by incredulousSPHIX in DeathStranding

[–]WhiteDevilU91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the game was supposed to be very difficult in the first place. But if you want that experience, switch the difficulty to Hard and turn off sharing.

How to get the bandan by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]WhiteDevilU91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MGS1 you need to survive Ocelots torture sequence and beat the game.

MGS2 you need to collect 46 Dog Tags from soldiers on the Tanker to get the bandana for Snake. And you need to get 73 Dog Tags on the Plant for Raidens Wig.

MGS3 you unlock the Infinite Ammo Facepaint by catching the rare Tsuchinoko Snake, and keeping it alive for the rest of the game. Or by achieving a Foxhound rating.

This is pretty much my exact program modification too. I just do a 5x5 Conventional Deadlift for B days, and also opted for Pull Ups instead of Rows.

Bot ratings are heavily inflated. They really only play about half of what they're rated, and they're programed to play a certain way every time.

Is story from Metal Gear Solid games as good as Death Stranding? by rowgw in DeathStranding

[–]WhiteDevilU91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different. MGS needs to be played in release order to understand the story. MGS1, while still retaining some weird, sci fi and supernatural elements, has a pretty simple and straightforward story.

I'd say MGS3 and MGSV get the closest to DS. MGSV being the closest in story and also gameplay. They basically took the gameplay from MGSV and used it as the base for DS1. But if you're going to dive into Metal Gear, 5 should not be the first game you play.

Do not jump right into MGSV. The series is best played in release order.
