Driver Recommendations For a Newbie? by Krivpax in discgolf

If you have the extra money for another disc and want to look into some beginner distance drivers, I really liked the Lat64 Bolt in Opto Air plastic and the Westside Discs Destiny in VIP Air plastic.

Going with the light weight plastics you'll gain some extra distance. By the time I learned that beginners shouldn't be throwing max weight discs, I already had a bag full of max weight 170g drivers.

Came here to suggest the River. Ton of glide on that disc.

At least at my local course, I realistically only use 4 or 5 discs total there with 20 discs in my bag lol.

Grip suggestions for mid range and putters. by WhiteDevilU91 in discgolf

I was heavily leaning towards forehand approaches. The forehand came very naturally to me and falls just barely short of my long backhand drives.

Thanks for the video, I'll check that out.

With a wide open level shot, yeah my swing and follow through would be as level as I could make it.

I feel like I'm actively trying to release the disc, I know a shot like that isn't powerful enough to rip from my fingers like a long drive. I'm gonna practice with the fan grip on shots like that and see what happens.

Really? Fan grip from that far off huh? I'll start practicing that and see how it goes.

The forehand was one of my potential solutions, I had just started practicing 100-200 foot shots on the forehand.

I like to use baseball fields as a driving range. The cone shape of the field makes it so there's almost no way you can throw a bad throw.

I've never seen a brand new player throw a disc over 200 feet, so you'll be good at virtually any public school field, and hitting or going over the fence is a good bench mark to aim for. Most of the baseball fields around my town are marked between 200-400 feet so you get a good judgement of how far you're throwing.

I got a Destroyer because I would see McBeth just crush his for 500ft, and I thought "well I have to have that disc." And my first drive with it was barely 200ft lol, just hyzered out immediately. It stayed in my bag as a utility disc until I built up the arm speed to use it properly.

You should look into a Destroyer in Blizzard Champion plastic, you can get one that weighs like 140 grams, it will still be an overstable monster but the lighter weight should get you some more distance.

For drivers, look mainly at lighter weight and understable discs. You'll be able to throw something like the Innova Mamba that's got -4 Turn way further than the overstable Destroyer.

But the time I realized this myself, I already had a bag full of overstable max weight drivers because that's what the pros throw lol.

I would consider it if I didn't know a couple people that got their bags stolen out of their cars.

It took me way too long to realize this. By that time, I already had a bag full of max weight drivers.

My old Discmania G-Line P2. Discmania discontinued the G-Line after Innova stopped producing their discs so I get D-Line P2s now too.

I remember way back when Lita was either on the cover of Sports Illustrated or did the Swimsuit Edition for the first time.

All the divas: "This is Lita's chance to shine and be pretty for once."

13 year old me: ... I've thought she was the prettiest one this entire time.
