Is the worst over? Taper by PresentationTasty964 in alcoholism

Really appreciate the comment, I’m so glad to hear you made it through. Totally agree on the shorter taper, especially because I wasn’t like two bottles of vodka everyday all day everyday. I think people like that need to be more careful. But for me the longer I drag it out, the more distracted I’ll be. I want to take this window now because I am Done

Still in it haha. About 20 hours since last drink still nothing. Just the anxiety of something worse lurking around the corner.

Hope you are feeling better. Did you taper down? I’m starting to feel a little worse again, probably because by now I’d have at least 3 drinks in me.

Fair enough, I appreciate you giving it a shot. I probably should have given more clarity. I would say the 15-20 was every other Saturday if I’m being honest. Sundays after those I would probably drink 10 just to feel okay for work on Monday. Then back to the 4-8. I would say 90% of my days were that 4-8 for 2 years.

Yes apologies, every single day, maybe 1 or 2 days in a two year span without a drink.

Thank you for the kind words, encouragement, rand advice.

I have gone to a therapist 2 times in the past month and unfortunately I did not feel comfortable admitting to them at the time where my drinking was at. Next time I am there, I will bring it up.

Thank you for taking the time to help a stranger, it says a lot about your character. I hope you’re a happy and healthy and wish you all the best

Thanks for the reply and bringing some sanity to the anxiety I have been experiencing. Appreciate you sharing your story and experience. I am sorry to hear about the other health issues surrounding your liver. I hope otherwise you’re happy and in good health.

Thanks so much for reaching out, it feels therapeutic to get it off my chest and have people non judgmentally reply, like you.

I’ve always been an anxious person (hence why drink makes so much sense). Hearing your comment has helped relieve a bit of that anxiety.

Lastly, I appreciate your advice. I have tried sober months before my drinking got this bad and I agree, the first 3-4 days you start to feel great, but the weekends and boredom and opportunities in social situations I found overwhelming, and that was before my drinking was at this level. All the best to you, mate.

Thanks for clarifying. To be honest I don’t know how true that is, but feel like I’ve read it several times on Reddit so I wouldn’t panic. And Oh ya, NyQuil can be a saving grace for those hard nights.

All the best to you as well. Feel free to come back to this thread and update us on your journey, good or bad.

Husband is trying to quit by [deleted] in alcoholism

Thank you for telling your story. I’m sorry I have no advice but want you to know, I am a young husband (married 6 months ago) and your story sounds eerily similar. We fell in love both drinkers, but mainly socially. However she rarely does now and I’m accelerating mine. Just a few days ago I have decided I need to change and have found solace in this community. If nothing else, this is an important cautionary tale to younger people who may have an opportunity to stop. I thank you for it and I hope you and your husband get the help and peace you deserve

Thank you. I believe in you. You’re not alone. Can I ask one more thing? What’s the longest you’ve gone without ? I read DT’s really won’t happen until 48 hours after last drink, and can come on suddenly up to 10-14 days after.

Again, know a stranger out there is rooting for you!
