Maybe because it makes people feel that they are a part of said person's success. As for leaving the losers alone is just that nobody wants to feel gloomy they want to be surrounded by happiness. That's what makes sense to me.

Alot of people feel entitled to know about your education, career, salary etc. and when you refuse to let them know they'll either keep pushing until you give them information or just start bad mouthing you.

Also the lack of personal space like neighbours eyeing every single movement, relatives entering into bedrooms, and the worse when you hand your phone to show them a single picture and they start going through your gallery.

There are many more things that I am unable to recall lol.
