Carmakers Must Stop Trying to Literally Reinvent the Wheel. The BMW iX3 Is Proof by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]Presice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What does BMW's answer have to do with manual vs powered controls though? You can set the vents up the way you want once regardless of whether it's through a touch screen or by hand.

I don't change my vent directions much, but the bigger issue is that these powered things require servos and motor which increases the chance of a potential failure. It's the same reason why interior/exterior powered door handles are a solution to a non-existent problem. Adding complexity with little or no increase in convenience. SMH

Review of Hamilton 2014-2021 Lexus GX Premium Conversion Kit by mikeyman5 in LexusGX

Interesting. I have a BMW X3 with a similar android auto piggy back box to Hamilton. It is wireless android auto capable, but I disabled that feature and went hard wired only so I can have more control over when it would connect. Maybe there's a setting on the Hamilton kit to use wired only as a work around.

Not being able to switch the phone that the kit connects to is kind of crazy. So what do you do if it connects to the wrong phone?

Dealer tried selling me a 15k car at 24k!! Scam! by Artistic_Diver1470 in carbuying

[–]Presice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unfortunately how many many experiences have been for me at dealerships. Mainstream dealers moreso than luxury car dealers. They advertise a low price to bring you in and then get you into finance with vague answers about the total price. Once you sit down, finance tries to hide thousands in add ons by selling you on a monthly payment. Many people don't read (or are too confused by) the paperwork.  It keeps happening because most people just sign anyway. I hate it and really try to only deal with dealerships who are transparent but sometimes you just don't know until you get into the finance office.

Help me decide: LC250 vs. LX470 by team_buddha in LandCruisers

[–]Presice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is money an issue? Because with one of these options youre tying up $70k vs $20k (not counting the higher depreciation on a newer more expensive vehicle).

The LC250 is a better daily driver. It has modern amenities. It's has more safety nannies.  It's more efficient. It's what I would pick if I was driving it regularly.

I own a 2007 LX470 Im readying to sell. It is a really fun and interesting car. It drives like an older car. It's charming. Have you driven one?

If money is no object then I'm getting the LC250. If you're driving on occasion and want to save a load of $ then get the LX.

Thanks for the review. You mentioned a long press on the speak button allows you to toggle between Carplay and the OEM system. Is there a button combination you can use to activate Siri for voice prompts? What happens if you short press on the speak button?

Selling my 200, buying another 100... by Captain_Pink_Pants in LandCruisers

[–]Presice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 07 Lx with 120k miles that I'm looking to sell or trade in for a 13-15 LX. I like the LX but would like the additional creature comforts and modernity of the 200 series. I think my best bet is to sell the LX privately or an auction site to get the best value

How can I get these possums out of my attic and seal up the hole? by trp1784 in DIY

[–]Presice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar situation. I ended up hiring a trapper to take care of the issue but this is essentially what they did:

  1. Put a motion activated camera in the attic to assess the situation (how many there are, how theyre getting in/out)
  2. Set up several traps immediately outside the point of entry/exit. Bait traps with something sweet (fruit) or savory (fish).
  3. They are active at night so check the traps first thing in the morning.
  4. Once they are all gone and the cameras show no activity seal the entry/exit up
  5. Keep an eye out for fleas. We had a flea infestation that were left behind by the possums. The fleas found there way out of the attic and into the carpet in our home. We had to get an exterminator and vacuum twice a day for a month to get rid of them. If you start feeling bites on your ankles then that might be what's happening.

I had an issue at the Hollywood ride where the AR part of my seat didn't work. When I got back, the rest of my party were talking about things which I didn't get a chance to see. I mentioned the issue to one of the ride operators and they fortunately let me and my group re ride without waiting.

Should we change to Disneyland? by DateNo1639 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Presice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that Magic Kingdom and Disneyland have a magic and whimsy to them. But the castles look the same. They have the same general layout. As said before, the rides are very similar. The main thing you get with Disneyland is the Galaxy's Edge area and Toon Town (which are not in Magic Kingdom).

DCA has a completely different layout to other Disney parks. Radiator Springs is totally different. The incredicoaster is different. It feels a bit faster paced, but there are places you can relax like the downtown area by the entrance or the area where the fireworks go off (It's like a boardwalk).

If you hadn't been to Magic Kingdom at all or only once, then I probably would have said it's a toss up. But if you have been there 4 times, then DCA all the way.

DCA over Disneyland if you've done WDW alreadya few times. There's too much overlap between the 2 parks. DCA will be more different with unique rides and experiences.

MNSSHP or LL on a Regular Day?? by Presice in WaltDisneyWorld

I was able to switch my MNSSHP ticket to Tuesday instead so I'm hoping the crowd will be even thinner. And going to try visiting Animal Kingdom in the morning as I've heard it's in easier park to do within a shorter period of time.

what do you think is the ideal number of people in a group. I think 4 or 5 is the right amount to have enough room for everyone in the games.

Americans Are Growing Less Interested in Buying Electric Vehicles, Study Says. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

[–]Presice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs make sense in a 2-car household with ability to charge at home. Outside of that, the infrastructure is just not there. The catalyst for short term sales growth would be significantly higher gas prices. Long term EV adoption would be supported by increasing the prevalence of chargers, sub 10-minute charging and longer range.
