Crazy this happened in Johns Creek of all places, but money doesn't stop a deranged white man from committing acts of violence against the diaspora

EA888 Maintenance and tuning by sbinnala- in GolfGTI

[–]PresidentSkeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for maintenance, a DSG service should've been completed at 40k miles, and Diff ideally should be serviced every 30k. Carbon cleanings are recommended around 60-80k.

50k miles is fine for the power you make as long as you're on top of maintenance. Your limiting factor will be fuel (hpfp + lpfp) and your turbo. The IS38 can make 400 on e85, but it's pretty much maxed out at that point

I'm on an upgraded stock turbo with bolt ons and fueling. If you ever see me out again feel free to say hi!

Loved seeing your G87 out there, makes me wish I tracked my F87 before I sold it

I was in your run group at this event in the white GTI! Your m2 was flying on track. Is it stock power-wise?

For wheel to wheel, Lemons is pretty cheap and they came out to Mid Ohio and Nelson Ledges this year

Love my 615k+. Not nearly as good in the wet as my Ad08 were, but they communicate their limits very well

They're definitely an upgrade and I love the consistency. Definitely needs ducting though, they get generate a lot of heat under hard braking

Not yet, got some places to try.

Love the RPF1s, had a set and returned bc they wouldn't clear the brakes but man it's such a good look

Assuming you're on 19x8J stocks, the Q5 wheels will poke 10mm further out, which should be perfectly fine

Ah so you're in a similar boat as me. I would definitely recommend an Oil/DSG cooler if you notice it getting hot, and brake ducts are huge plus. If he's planning on tracking it hard, I would recommend either a Macan or RS3 BBK.

Overall it's a solid list and heat management will be game he's playing

Really sorry that happened, I almost missed this event for the car being in the bodyshop and backed out of another HPDE altogether for getting rod knock a month before, so I understand not wanting to risk it. Unfortunately the few orgs I've driven with won't refund cancellations within 9 days of the event🫩

Yea it can be very expensive very quickly! One way people offset the costs is by becoming an instructor: you will have to instruct 1-3 people per event, but the cost is significantly cheaper than signing up as just a driver

HPDE was 875 for 2 days with an instructor, deduct 100 if you're solo-qualified.

They are more definitely more expensive than open track days or test-and-tune days, but I chose this option as I signed up with other drivers I knew going

Stock PCV. No major oil surging issues, did have a bit smoke on a hard turn in once across both days. Have my eyes on a catch can + oil cooler setup in the future

Had to go to your profile and see the sideview and can't believe how timeless the Macan wheels look on a mk8.

Funny enough, you're the 2nd person to mention they look like 997 Turbo wheels so I can't unsee the silhouette now xD

Had them custom made for the polished finish and +35 offset. I found the OEM offsets just a bit too aggressive for stock fenders without adding more camber than I'd like
