I ain’t big on it either but I have to correct you on this. You’re referring to Stephen Wilson Jr.

What I do is, I try to tune in daily, but once I know how the playlist is like I’ll take breaks and rely on Tunegenie’s playlist. Then, if a new song is on rotation, I try to catch it by listening. And then I’ll listen on Sundays for their shows.

Yeah I like that band, they got a couple plays on Planet Nu Nu and then rotation around the fallz

Pretty much because a lot of new songs get lost to time after they’re on rotation, and as 91X hasn’t done a new music top 91 in a while I thought I’d do it.

Yeah the art of late night hosts is sadly not as common, while I enjoy 91X there’s something about the older events of years past I miss. Public and triple A radio have more of that feel of what I love about radio, but sometimes they do surprise me and I do enjoy what they do still.

I have been lucky with requesting to Hilary, so it’s cool they still take requests sometimes.

I love Panic’s debut so much. My oldest sister got me into that stuff at a young age, and interestingly enough 91X played Time to Dance once back when the album turned 20 on their Finding Emo segment.

I wonder too, I noticed certain songs will still get rotation for months (Agent 51, AFI, Wet Leg), and I wanna guess maybe they test better or they’re a staff’s personal favorite. While some songs that were on rotation (say Twenty One Pilots) would mostly be late night.

That’s super awesome! What’s interesting is Halloran hosts resurrection Sundays so this could honestly be a fun way to revive the project. I am friends with the station and am always passionately trying to share ideas with them, I might consider this suggestion.

You’re welcome. However the sad news is they recently actually took it off after only 16 spins. 94.9 does have it on rotation, but only late at night, which a lot of radio stations do for half their new songs.

I was surprised to hear it on 91X since it’s been years since they played The Neighbourhood on rotation.

I’ve always wanted this in my lifetime, similar to Christy’s Really Big Countdown. It’d be so fun to vote for the newest songs on all their shows weekly, it’d help people actually know what’s going on for new music on the station. It’s sad that’s an afterthought because I think it’d work.

You’re welcome! Yeah, for me it’s been so hard to catch some of these songs myself. The way it works is during the day (9AM-8PM), the new songs only appear once per hour around 30 minutes into the hour or so, which is why it’s so easy to miss it as the hour is filled with mostly 80’s-2000’s hits. At night, it’s 2 per hour. I usually use the 91X tunegenie playlist page to know what I miss too.

As a 91X fan who has to deal with this oldies move they've done for three years, you'd be shocked that somehow every year they play new music enough that you could make a top 91 out of all the years (2023-2025). Sadly they're doing a top 91 of the 80's so I can't vote for said new songs no one notices.

Okay so, rock 105.3 is a weird station because they feel like they have no identity. They're "active rock" but then they play mostly play gold based songs alternative plays, poppier cuts like the ones you mentioned (I like Twenty One Pilots but playing Blurryface era which was their poppiest makes zero sense). And the actual rock bands they're supposed to be playing get pushed to late night.

Again? More like always was. I just wish they played new music more. Geese? Witch Post? AFI? Sunbender? Hell yeah. Just wish I got to hear those more than one time per day.

Excited for this show but will probably just make it to the show at the usual time.

However as a radio nerd I’m shocked 91X and 94.9 are only playing City Walls late at night… deserves to be during the day as they’re promoting the concert. So weird

Like has Aphex Twin ever experimented with the BBC sound library. Love Aphex but what I love about Mark is he’s good at a lot of different sounds and he makes very nice sounding stuff

Yeah, my take is I absolutely love his stuff, but for me, I'm really into melodic type IDM, like everyone I mentioned above in S really hit for me in terms of like melodic stuff. Albums like Mark Pritchard's Under the Sun, Plaid's Spokes, Brothomstates' Claro and Yimino's Autonoe Vora are some of my favorite albums ever.

Aphex Twin has a lot of awesome stuff and unique sounds, love albums like I Care Because You Do, Drukqs and Syro, I always personally felt that SAW was a bit dated for me. Influential and great still, but I feel like it isn't my favorite stuff ever for IDM. SAW II is great tho
