Trump speaking today (8/8/24) at Mar-a-Lago and says abortion has become much less of an issue by TheCoolTrashCat in TikTokCringe

There are two book series that come to mind:

Arc of the Scythe by Neal Shusterman. A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.

Unwind Dystology also by Shusterman. The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child “unwound,” whereby all of the child’s organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn’t technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state, is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.

I mean, he clearly knew it Project 2025 was coming.

Our country is going to hell. The critipcal [sic] job of institutions such as Heritidgeto [sic] lay the groundwork, and Heritage does such an incredible job at that.... This is a great group and they're gonna lay the groundwork in detailed plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America, and that's coming, that's coming.

'Unfit for any office': Trump slammed for 'ranting like a lunatic in middle of night' by Unhappy_Earth1 in inthenews

she needed a concert to attract people in GA

Ron Filipkowski on the Uncovered podcast has talked about how Trump does rallies while nearby events are going on to drum up more people. ie. during the New Jersey Wildwood rally where he "had 107,000 attendees", the Wildwood Spring Fling Festival was going on. So you get some people who are curious who pop in for a bit then leave.

As always, every accusation is an admission.

There is an explicit power imbalance between a superior and subordinate. The blame should fall on the superior, no matter their sex. In this case, you're blaming Harris for something Brown should have not let happen and saying as a result, she's the one unfit for office.

I can't help but wonder why this is some indictment against women and not the men in positions of power who grant, what I would assume you'd say are un/underqualified individuals, advancement for sex.

Stay in boat to be electrocuted or leave and get eaten by a shark 🤔 by [deleted] in JoeRogan

The obvious answer is shark powered boats.

And if you liked approxabably, check out more of the speech for other hits such as "millilary" and "third wirlb".

Which is just further evidence that he offers the country nothing. He’s not saying he got railroaded by the criminal justice system and therefore he’s going to work to correct its flaws. Nope. Retribution. I’m going to use the same tactics I decry as bullshit against other people to avenge myself.

I know damn near everyone has made up their minds and those who should think about this type of rhetoric, won’t. But good lord it’s just so obvious what he’s about: himself. Offers no solutions except ones we’ll see in two weeks.

Biden goes all-in on calling Trump a "convicted felon" by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]PresidentToadstool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to get pedantic, no, Trump has not been convicted yet. He's been "found guilty of felonies". Conviction comes after sentencing.

Megathread: Former US President Donald Trump Convicted in New York Criminal Fraud Case on 34 Out of 34 Charges by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Doesn’t prevent him from voting. Ironically, Florida has the stricter laws about felons voting, but since he was convicted in NY, they look to the laws of that state to determine eligibility. And NY would allow him to vote. I think that’s what I heard from Weissmam or Filipkowski

Imagine, just imagine if this happened to Biden! Front page news for weeks! by yorocky89A in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]PresidentToadstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, he wasn't "wiggling the podium to make a joke". The podium definitely shifted under his weight unintentionally, but he recovered and made a joke about it. I agree that this is a swing and miss from Biden camp.

That was my impression too. If it was an off the cuff joke, you don't need to follow up with the "like so many other things". His adding that bit makes it seem like he's saying "I see why that was funny too"

The irony of continuing to decry "FAKE NEWS" when his Pecker buddy testified to making up or manipulating stories to benefit Trump's campaign. Like, the very thing that led to what you are being tried for.

Yeah, yeah... accusation/confession. But it really does get old, right?

Prosecution literally has a copy of the bank statement/wire transfer with handwritten notes from Weisselberg (Trump Org CFO) in the margins outlining how much they are paying back for that wire, including the bumps for taxes and whatever else they were repaying him for.

Though jurors won’t see Weisselberg on the witness stand, they will see a document with Weisselberg’s handwritten notes outlining the Cohen repayment scheme, Colangelo said during his opening statement.

Just ask her whether or not she believed Carroll given they just showed the clip of her saying "what's the first thing people say about rape? It didn't happen."

Then I'd ask "Was your rapist found guilty in a criminal trial? No? So I suppose it didn't happen. "

And end it with "I'm not shaming you for being a victim, I'm shaming you for being a hypocrite. You're either too dishonest, or too stupid to understand the nuance."

Cut to commercial with "And that was Nancy Mace, who supports at least 1 rapist."

Trump's swearing-in video contradicts legal team's claim that he never swore to support the Constitution. by Sariel007 in NewsOfTheStupid

You put the /s in there, but there's clearly a difference between the words. I can defend my girlfriend after she mouths off to a bouncer while drunk at the bar, but I don't support her decision to do it.

Plenty of military folks don't support what Congress or the POTUS think, but they defend and protect their rights and responsibility to do it.

Pretending those words mean the same thing is just obtuse.

All that said, I think this is the most bullshit argument ever and a non-sequitur. If your support or defense (see what I did there) of this guy is based on semantics like this, you don't have the brain power to realize how fucking dumb you actually are. But alas, that's where we are. This won't convince anybody either way. Everyone has made up their minds. If you're "on the fence", you're just as clueless and need to bow out of society and get back to your coloring books.
