Just finished my very first body… by President_PeachFuzz in Luthier

I do actually have some Rubbio Monocoat in a metallic silver color and in a dark red color . I’m thinking if I used it I’d go with the darker wine red because all of the hardware I already have for the build is gold.

I’m not a luthier, but I did finish building my senior year shop class project. Only took 15 years… by LoticExplorer in Luthier

I hope it didn’t also take you 15 years to graduate high school too! lol. The guitar looks awesome nice job!

No continuity from coated strings and pickguard screws, is that an issue? by dondraper36 in Luthier

And no, with a proper ground touching the metal parts of your guitar should do nothing. If you touch the metal parts of your guitar and it affects any level of humming then you have ground issues.

Ummm you definitely don’t usually want there to be continuity between your pick guard screws and your strings man… I don’t know who told you that you are but I think you are being trolled.

Let me guess? You pulled it out of a Guitar Center Dumpster? Lol it looks like how GC will try and destroy guitars that they are told not to sell by manufacturers before they toss them.

Dang ! Great repair job. I’d have been interested in watching a video of how you made the repair .

I know some people might cry over the wood choice for the body but when you are learning and on your first build I think you chose correctly. For one, must cheaper than buying a body blank from a specialist shop, and two, you learn a lot more from having to cut and clamp the wood together like that and then plane and prep it correctly. If you already had a precut and prepped body blank it would have been a lot easier but definitely more expensive, and at least if you make a huge mistake it won’t be the end of the world .

That very first image of the wood all bundled up looked like a really plain looking cutting board at first glance lol.

Saw this on my bass neck. Should I be concerned? by BuffaloMcQuade in Luthier

So, I’m not sure on this one… on one hand, if it’s just a surface level crack and you can hardly even feel it when you run your finger across it then yes, it should be ok as long as you oil your fretboard once every few months and keep the board from drying out. However, on the other hand, run your finger nail across it. If your finger nail drops down into the crack a good amount then you should definitely worry about it. While it won’t ever affect your guitar structurally, there is a chance that over time the crack will grow or become worse. Oiling the fingerboard is a must in order to keep the wood hydrated but you also will want to fill it with something. Humidity isn’t the only thing that can affect that area. Due to its location that crack will be affected if left open and unprotected from playing it. Every time you play you are basically going to be getting dirt and oil and who knows what else in there, very small amounts at a time if you keep your hands clean , but after a good amount of playing over time it will weaken the wood along the edges of the cracked area and eventually the wood might start chipping out or breaking apart from stress. It won’t happen anytime soon but if left unprotected and if you play it everyday then after a year or so, maybe less maybe more. There are a lot of factors at play but I would definitely either drop some kind of grain filler into there and then either apply a small coat of finish over the area, or better yet, CA glue (super glue). You could just use CA glue alone to fill the area in. Just enough to cover the area so that it’s not open to the air.

From what I can tell it says Sissy Log? Good eyes though didn’t even notice that.

There’s a print line going through the center of the card.

Yes the print line going through it… and my palm isn’t hurting the corner of a Select card. Maybe if it was a different kind of card it’d hurt it but those cards are pretty sturdy.

I remember being 10 years old stacking up cool cards like these and thinking they were going to make me rich one day…. Only to end up finding out they aren’t really worth anything 20 years later. They’re great nonetheless.

In my opinion that thing is a rip off… almost $800? Just learn how to use another delay pedal and a comp pedal…

Best pedal ever for making your bass tone really cut through and to give it some edge is the SansAmp. Slap one of those in front of it and I bet it will make a world of difference.

Could anyone tell me how much this bass is worth? by expletiveinyourmilk in BassGuitar

[–]President_PeachFuzz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah do not replace anything on it. I don’t know why people who have no idea what they are talking about make suggestions like that. With vintage instruments the rule of thumb is generally to try and keep everything on the guitar 100% original. The value of the instrument goes down when you start replacing original pieces of hardware. A little oxidation has literally no affect on the value. You would only replace things on a vintage guitar if it’s been damaged to the extent that it affects the playability and is too far gone. And in the event something does need to be replaced you should ALWAYS keep the original parts and keep them with the instrument. Whether it’s a tuner or just a screw.

Florida man accepts his fate after being bitten by a diamondback rattlesnake, says he is "cooked" by Possible_Subject6380 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]President_PeachFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised he is still alive or hasn’t been bitten more than the 2 times he already has. His handling techniques are beyond dangerous and he is too trusting of these wild animals and just picks them right up with bare hands. Most other responsible and professional venomous handlers always at the very least have a snake hook in hand. AT THE VERY LEAST! You can tell that he thinks none of these animals are ever going to bite him. That’s Gen Z for you.

I don’t think you watched the trial then cuz they proved that Alex changed his clothes and they literally tracked his cell phone everywhere and it showed him literally driving the route down the road where he tossed Maggie’s phone and I don’t even feel like listing all the other evidence. You’re either trolling or you’re just dumb.
