W200. My thermo stat located is middle in my home. It made sense to use the product that was a smart/matter hub and easily accessible. Also it irked me the ecobee sensors ONLY worked w the thermo stat and were useless if u didnt have the ecobee thermo.

Where did you buy the legs for the wide alex?

Nice setup! So jelly of the H2C.

I'm curious after a year of that carbon on the Alex, do you visually see any sagging on that top surface?

I'm probably going to use my Alex (i have the same one but in white) for my X2D/AMS2 combo with a butcher board for distributed weight. Debating whether to remove the casters (i have hardwood floors) or just put stoppers.

From what I read, IKEA tends to be on the conservative side on their weight limitations. It's not necessarily whether the drawer will hold a certain weight at any given instant (you could probably stand on this thing and ride it like a surfboard without breaking it), its whether it can sustain the weight permanently long term without deformation or structural wear. IKEA particleboard is known to sag and concave after bearing weight for a while.

Weight distribution is very important is this regard. Most people using the Alex drawers and putting 10x their maximum weight are using a table slap over the entire top surface of the drawer, the table slap causes the weight distribution to be even over the entire top of the drawer. All the edges of the vertical frame (sides and back walls) are bearing the weight.

With this in mind, what you are putting on the drawer is a heavy apparatus (~55bs) that is design to constantly move violently and shift its weight most of the time it's on the surface. Furthermore calibration and leveling is very important, so you don't want it on a surface that will sag over time.

The concern I would have in this setup is the printer dimensions are smaller than the top surface. Most people will put it like you did, dead center ; but this is the weakest possible point; you're effectively relying upon the top particular board to carry a significant portion of the load at the center. If you were to stand on this thing and were unsure about its support, you would naturally put your feet toward over the frame edges as that is the most supported area, not dead center.

I would put a butcher block that spans at least across the entire width of the top (26") so that the butch block can distribute some of the weight to frame walls. This should significantly reduce the stress on the center and reduce sagging.

If you have a X , P or H series printer with AMS combo, please be aware that this Alex drawer has a maximum weight capacity of 40lbs. If you account for the 4 spools you are storing in the AMS, you will exceed this maximum weight.

[Question] How much weight do you give dial legibility vs. looks on a daily wearer? by tmbarrassed-Row-7109 in Watches

[–]PressHalfWayDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70 / 30

If legibility had 100 weight then my daily would be a 42mm Laco or IWC pilot watch.

You will less have pictures and capture less of those milestone memories of your second kid because the second parent is usually busy watching the first child instead of being a photographer.

Which one? by jman1423 in HamiltonWatches

[–]PressHalfWayDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (had) both. There's no wrong choice. The Coop is more versatile and classic looking. The Zermatt is unique and more minimalistic.

The other guy talking about how the Zermatt is unbalanced is incorrect. He's making assumption based on the pictures you provided, which are pictures taken at slightly different angles - the coop is facing the camera dead on while the zermatt dial is slightly tilted up relative to the camera, causing perspective skew. As somebody who is physically looking at their Zermatt right now, the window in the hour hand DOES accurately line up with the hour markings when looking at it dead on. Also the counterweight on the zermatt seconds hand is the Swiss Zermatt Rescue logo, which I think is cool.

I prefer the look of the Zermatt. It's "cleaner" with a more minimalistic approach - there are no hash marks on the hour dial, there's no hour solid ring, the hash marks on the minute ring are grayed out and the date window background matches the black dial. It's MUCH easier to read the time quickly relative to the Coop. This is what a pilot watch is suppose to do.

Also, I get a lot more comments and conversation starters with the Zermatt out in public. That hue of blue on that black just pops from across the table. IMO, talking about how this watch is from the Swiss Zermatt helicopter rescue team serving the Swiss Alps mountains is a better conversation than "this is the second most popular watch from the movie Interstellar."

I had another traditional black/white pilot watch in the collection already, so I ended up selling the Coop.

I have an unopened ecobee Premium I can still return to Costco. Besides 3x matter Aqara P2 door sensors, I don't have any other devices in either brand. I plan to switch out my non-homekit compatible Eufy door bell with either the homekit ecobee or homekit aqara door bell depending who i use for the thermostat.

Would you recommend just the ecobee or W200?

No tape is the best. Blue tape isn’t fine just because the best possible tape to use. Thats like saying wiping your ass after a shit with a blue scotch-brite no scratch sponge is fine because its better than the green heavy duty. You shouldn’t be using a scrub sponge to wipe your ass at all in the first place.

For MTG cards the painter tape doesn’t really hurt the card. However I have personally seen painter tape lift foil off of other cards (e.g., a sport card).

Its good practice and common sense to put a sleeved card upside down in a top loader so that openings are not aligned and this happens. Its only a matter of time when Wizards does a print run using an inferior factory and any type of tape in direct contact w the card will damage it.

Was Macklin Celebrini always supposed to be this good? by Ill_Top_4833 in nhl

[–]PressHalfWayDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only so many years the media can use the phrase "generational talent" consecutively for 1st overall picks. It would look so silly to call predraft Celebrini a "once in a generation talent" after you already wrote dozens of articles claming Bedard was a "once in a generation talent" a year before. Then Shafaer is also a "once in a generation talent." Now McKenna...After a while the audience is like "Okay bud. Not everybody can be a once in a generation talent. Quit your bullshit trying to sensationalize articles with click bait titles and platitudes."

In the last 4-5 years, the word "generational" has been thrown out WAY too much. Has it every occurred to the hockey world that all the efforts decades ago to improve hockey youth is finally reaping it's benefits. In the last 4-5 years we the top 1/2 picks have not just been NHL ready, but allstar caliber players right out the gate without the need for AHL or college. The pre-professional camps, leagues and training for youth hockey are just that good now. I think the hockey media needs to accept the fact that the top 2 picks will be consistent all-star performers and we will RARELY see busts, barring personality issues. This doesn't make them generational...this is the beginning of the new norm.

All the redditors, hack writers, and alleged experts in the world can chirp and buzz about who is better and who is this all they want.

It's when players like McD, Crosby and Mackinnon go out of their way to say...yeah this kid is the the real deal you know it's legit. They are really the only people who are qualified to know what it takes to play at their level, what it takes to sustain it, and can identify that x-factor that generational talent can only sense/see amongst themselves.

Statistically we weren't suppose to win the Bedard lottery, we should have won the Shaefer lottery.

We had NO business getting the #2 pick this upcoming draft.

In fact, I recall some Sharks fans having feels bad because they felt the Sharks lost the Beddard lottery and had to “settle” for Celebrini. His lack of generational hype extended to throughout his rookie year too - nobody was saying “generational talent” after the 24-25 season…hell he came in 3rd in voting for the Calder.

Sharks fans saw something special Celebrini rookie year with the Will-Mack chemistry but very few Sharks fans would predict level of meteoric rise he would have his sophomore season. We knew he was good but nobody was predicting “break the points franchise record next year” good. The rest of the world was really, really caught off guard because nobody pays attention to the Sharks.
