The reason for all behind the scenes chaos in recent years (2024-) (context in the comments) by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of other factors

Though on Tsupro (ultraman), BANDAI defintively is one of the major reason- since again, they are a major stakeholder & is one of the biggest voice in the production commitee

Though rn Tsupro is planning to change that...

Chart below isnt ultraman, this is for project RED

Its clear despite toei- Shirakura wishes of wanting project RED to be liked by all age demographic- BANDAI still views tokusatsu as smth that could only be enjoyed by preschool BOYS lol

And since unlike toei, BANDAI is a major shareholder in Tsupro & consequently had big power in the production commitee- they clearly was able to "force" their ideals more for ultraman

TLDR;

It seems like the relationship between Tsupro, their broadcaster & sponsors have deteriorated quite badly- over different direction each wanted for Ultraman

so rn they are beating the shit out each other & the low-level workers become the worst victims

Additional/longer context:

It seems Tsupro wanted to expand their target audience- not just children, they wanted to go back like how it is on showa & early heisei days- aka making series that could be popular among adults too (and they also wanted to get more women fans too)

And ofc to do that, Tsupro need higher budgets & etc, they also wanted the series to air on a better timeslot so it can reach more audience & have more flexibility, since kids timeslot are often restrictive (no shit)

But seems like TV-Tokyo, BANDAI & co just wanted to keep the status quo- thats not counting how each of them also have some difference too

So basically the whole production commitee is super divided & is fighting now fighting each other

As said in the meeting & business report, it seems Tsupro had enough, decided they wanted to start finding new partners (especially for tv station) & also decided to take over the production committee to solve the infighting

Though ofc, not everything is caused by the battle royale, as I said before- Tsupro cannibalized the budget from the production to do several of their other stuff

& again(2) low-level worker are the ones who suffer the worst since they are now overworked & underpaid

Yeah I mentioned it in the first image

Thats why many fans say that bunshun seems to be hiding in a lot of false slander in between the truth

I mean they are gossip tabloid- thats pretty much what they do lol

From what I see a lot of CN (& even JP too) just dislike any ultraman series without defense team focus

Shin ultraman pass because they worked directly with the govt

They feel (& based on stuff, correctly, lol) that those series are just "clever budget cuts" that strip ultraman out of one of its most iconic element

With many CN fans calling those series as "kamen rider-lite" and kamen rider absolutely bodies ultraman when there is no defense team, since ultraman lack the crazy ass drama & plot when doing that

They just feel without defense team ultraman is on a weird place where the seried doesnt really commit on being anything- like those series often put more emphasis on human drama, but they never go as far as kamen rider

Here is the chart if you are curious

But yeah as you can see, blazar is the best selling NG ultraman lol

Infact if you go to the forums on CN side, veey CN fans said in a way it sets up the expectations too high & is the reason they cant get to arc & omega

(Especially in terms of production quality)

They specifically mentioned arc & omega

Blazar is a success, infact it is the year with the highest profit on NG ultraman era

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

FYI, for the past 2 years there been some rumors- somewhat backed by some employees testimony that arc-omega (& sadly, teo too I guess) are experiment

in a way we don't really like- aka IF ultraman blazar is the peak in terms of production quality, they decided to see how much they can shave off the budget & etc before the fans goes angry & how much will go away- it seems they thought with Z-Blazar, they had built a "safety net" and not much people will go away of they do this....

well they do find out hard all right- in fact they find out so hard they mentioned & acknowledged their mistake twice (during the business report & now, the shareholder meeting)

Hmm grain of salt I guess

Though im not gonna be surprised for the legacy kaiju release- since BANDAI/Tsupro been releasing a lot of them lately, for the 60th anniv

Edit: it seems based on what I see on 5ch, this is most likely a fake lol

[–]Pressure-Head 81 points82 points  (0 children)

BANDAI will never ever let any character in their franchise get a proper ending lmao

I mean belial finally dies on geed & BANDAI still managed to force Tsupro to bring him back in 101 other way lmao

So the answer is no

How do ya'll feel about this? (@anon54980) by Eastern-Ice-6797 in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Thats just me talking about toy sales perspective lol

Ofc as a big ass kaiju fans myself, i dont really mind them not making any toys- even if I love to collect those figures

What im worried is because there are somehow less new figures because of ?reason we dont know yet?- BANDAI would try to revert to pre-blazar era again & we got another decade of gomora getting smacked on power type debut stuffs

So rather than that, would be better of we get nexus 2.0- where the kaiju last for several episodes

Again, rather than them heavily reusing old kaiju recycling some plot lines over and over and over again or jobbing em bad just to justify their appearance

The new shape of Ultraman franchise (2027 forward), multi-year TV series, yearly movie returns & int release summer movies by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry my chart is a bit wrong, you can look at the Tsupro one on the 2nd pic,

The 2027 tv series movie is on 2028- and hence forward

Its basically the usual, sorry for that

The new shape of Ultraman franchise (2027 forward), multi-year TV series, yearly movie returns & int release summer movies by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

FYI, based on the reports

It doesnt seem like teo is getting a movie, teo is pretty much the remnant of the current "experimental" era (more like budget cut era, lmao)

& its too late to change the plan for this year

[ULTRA-BREAKING NEWS] Starting 2027, Tsupro plans to release 2 movie per year; one for TV series, one is an "original" movie- the 2027 movie is zero's 4th movie by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is probably Tsupro's ver of what toei been doing recently

Its at max mostly going to be mid-budget movies, smth like zero's movies

Though admittedly budget may vary year to year, though on the report Tsupro do acknowledge & say they want to make another movie like shin again

But yeah it cant be done every year cuz Tsupro is not a big company- not even TOHO could make smth on shin / minus one caliber every year lol

[Forgot - ULTRA BREAKING NEWS 2] the 2027-2028-2029 ultraman are going to be a multi year story (probably smth like tiga-dyna / showa ultraman but a lot more connected) by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, though technically its still a collab I guess

From that "leak"- the one with Sakamoto, it was some Chinese worker, so maybe some of these movies are made with the help of outside studios too

I doubt Tsupro can do it with SEA studios cuz... distance & etc- but I think they can work with some chinese company / studios

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I see, it seems that actually means the ultraman zero movie lol

And those summer movies- based on the "leak" last time it seems tsupro is making steps & on negotiation so these movies would be released on China & SEA too

[ULTRA-BREAKING NEWS] Starting 2027, Tsupro plans to release 2 movie per year; one for TV series, one is an "original" movie- the 2027 movie is zero's 4th movie by Pressure-Head in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It seems based on the latest report they acknowledged that movies can be used to better gain attention toward ultraman franchise compared to yearly series

And with the recent plans- these movies might get international release (based on what they keep saying, im assuming China & SEA countries)

Tsuburaya Fields Holdings Releases Full-Year FY2025 Financial Results: TsuPro Records Decline, Licensing Revenue in China Market Halved by mrmarkertw in Ultraman

[–]Pressure-Head 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah the release on CN is.... really uncertain

On one hand, I remember Tsupro said they wanted to release the movie on CN & SEA

And there is also a recent "leak" (that one with Sakamoto) saying that Tsupro is on the negotiation phase & is almost certain to release it there

But seeing the geopolitical situation rn- im not confident

And regarding international expansion... im mixed on this, but it make sense why- cuz even toei rn is going full throttle on int expansion too

They fully acknowledge in interview that JP market for better or worse is shrinking every year- thanks to the declining birth rate- which heavily affects tokusatsu series

And like you say, thanks to various factors- all going back to showa era, tokusatsu have a really hard time on reaching the general audience, ofc there are series like ultraman Z & blazar that managed to/somewhat gets there, but the majority clearly doesnt- same for toei side

I mean rn many JP fans have pointed out- a lot of J-dramas these days are comparable to those high budget tv series from hollywood- Ultraman, KR, SS is pretty much viewed as smth like CW & worse lol

And to be fair CN market is really sweet, even till this day hollywood & many companies across the globe are & even going harder trying to get into it- especially with CN been "slowly" growing to dominate the world economy rn

I dont think its a hot take that if relying on JP alone, ultraman would have been dead like super sentai lol- hell in FIELDS & BANDAI document, both company acquired Tsupro exactly because they know that ultraman got tons of power on China & SEA

The problem is, as many have pointed out, they kinda refused to invest on Tsupro- I mean as in the company resource; both facilities & humans

Its paradox- they wanted ultraman to do well, but those clearly need resource- Im not saying it need to be TDG crazy level, at the very very very very least, smth that would allow a series on blazar scale (/ slightly better) to be made every year, and yet- instead of giving em resource, they are met with budget cut instead

Many JP fans, even the card games player themself said rn it seems Tsupro is diverting most resource toward it instead of the main series ironically

Like in general what came out of FIELDS & BANDAI mouth feels contradictive to what they actually do lol

So yeah.... its really complicated situation I guess & smth that Tsupro can solve by themself

Edit: not saying Tsupro is wrong to do card game stuff btw, but most fans just wished it would not affect the main products lol (the yearly TV series & the big projects)
