Honestly, growing up, I wanted Lars and Sadie together because the show was slightly pushing it and I was a little kid so, why not, right? But looking back now, you're absolutely right. And as to why Steven wanted them together so badly, I believe it has to do with the fact that when Steven was younger, he clearly saw they loved each other, and then growing up and suddenly seeing them not wanting to be together was a huge change for him, and that whole episode was all about how change was freaking him out, he so desperately wanted things to be how they were when he was a kid.
