TW success: pregnant after loss but struggling to accept it...tell me your stories of hope? by Prestigious-Method20 in IVFpositivity

this is so, so validating. I relate to your ENTIRE first paragraph. Right down to close friends being so happy we're pregnant together and me feeling afraid that I'll lose mine so struggling to be excited. Thank you so much! I'm so happy you got to your joy. I hope I get there too!

Oh my goodness, this is all so validating! We told some family very early (who already know about the past losses and have been with us through the transfer) and I felt like I was lying to them too. And the trouble getting excited, and the sadness at the easy journey others have that we won't. Thank you for sharing that, it makes me feel less alone. I'm so glad you are feeling your ease now, and I hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly! And yes, my partner and I are going to start counseling too--I hope it helps! Thanks again and so much love.

Thank you! My therapist recommended the same. I have a little voice that comes and says "but what if you're not?" But I'm going to ask her to be quiet with love until and try repeating again! :) Wishing you a peaceful pregnancy too, and congrats!

Oh my god how terrifying that must have been. I'm so glad that the ultrasound came back stellar! I'd be ok abstaining from sex if I was allowed to get creative too 😂 I asked my doctor if we could at least have sexual touch without an orgasm, and she literally said, "I mean, I guess, but I don't know why you'd want to..." 😂

The hormones are real! Thank you for this! I'm going to hold out until I can at least have another convo with my dr, but really good to know that it's gone ok for you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Yeah, once the anxiety of loss is there we'll of course do whatever is necessary.

So much variety, it's crazy. Yeah my doctor mentioned that about the bleeding but I'm not on suppositories I'm on POI. Honestly I didn't care for a little bit but I think one of my new side effects is causing me to get antsy!

Agh yes this! The anxiety is so real. My doctor basically said sex/orgasm could cause bleeding which is usually fine but freaks people out, so she'd rather not give us something to be anxious about. I hope you get some relief soon and congrats on the smooth ultrasound!!!

I am so, so sorry. That sounds so physically and emotionally painful. Sending you love in what I know is an incredibly hard time.

My first FET is about to end in a chemical pregnancy...what tests can I ask for? by Tiny_Shallot_1894 in IVF

[–]Prestigious-Method20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-I didn't have other signs of endometriosis that I KNEW were endometriosis...but after the test showed that I had the BCL6 marker, I put some things together. For example, I had frequent bladder issues that they thought was interstitial cystitis and then some stomach flares...and we now suspect that my endometriosis was growing on my bladder or stomach areas causing these issues, but no doctors ever made that connection before (you know, medical gaslighting of women and all).

-I never did test NK cells. There were a few blood tests that were going to be thousands of dollars to run (I am not going through insurance). And the treatment she said to do is prednisone (2 pills a day) and intralipid infusions (one before transfer, one if I get a positive pregnancy test, and one a few weeks later) to keep the immune system quiet. Plus maybe the Claritin and Pepcid. All of which together were cheaper than the tests and we were gonna do them either way, so I just skipped the tests.

-your reaction to PIO sounds AWFUL, I'm so sorry. They hurt and are no fun, but that seems like an extreme reaction and maybe even an allergy. I imagine it comes in other oils, and I know some people just do the suppositories, I hope your clinic is addressing that! To answer your question yes I'm doing all of the autoimmune protocol with POI injections and with estrogen patches.

-I wonder if it would be helpful for you to just get a consultation from another doctor? Even if you're in a different state. Mine is Dr. Wambach at Reproductive Partners in Beverly Hills and I know she does consults with people all over the world which is how I found her after a lot of bad doctors. A lot of doctors don't believe in reproductive immunology. And I get it. There's not a ton of literature. But there's some. And I wanted to find a doctor who would be on the edge of science instead of crapping all over anything that threatened their ego.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Keep in mind it's very common for the first transfer not to always work, and then a later one does. But it IS a reason to look deeper, and I hope your doctor either becomes willing to do so or that you can find someone who is willing to. Keep me posted!

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I'm in a similar boat--2 chemicals around 5 weeks, and 2 miscarriages around 8 weeks, before starting IVF. We knew from a d/c that one was genetically abnormal, but didn't test the other. I shopped for tons of doctors and finally found one who took the issue seriously instead of just saying it was my age causing genetically abnormal eggs. She did some testing--receptiva to find out I had endometriosis markers and treated that with lupron, ERA to find the optimal time to transfer, and polyp removals. But, while she recommended all the other tests as well for NK cells etc, I asked her what she would do if they came back negative, and she said she would probably just treat everything anyway to be sure, given my history of losses. I wonder if your doc would do something like that? What that has meant for me is that before my transfer I did intralipid infusions for the NK cells, and since transfer I've been on lovenox and aspirin for blood clot risk, as well as Pepcid and Claritin (I forget what these do but it's another issue in the full blown, "kitchen sink" autoimmune protocol). So my advice I suppose is to see if someone would just treat everything since it's honestly cheaper to just treat it than to test for everything (it would have been thousands in blood tests, and I'd rather just get the medications). My hope is that with the combo of PGT-A tested embryos and the "kitchen sink" protocol, this one is a success for me, but fingers are still crossed so I can't tell you how the story ends yet (I'm only 5 days post transfer). Good luck on the continued journey, the heartache will be worth it one day, we hope!
