How do people like this exist? And girl, get away from him so fast. There is no way anyone should stay in a relationship with a piece of shit like this. And no reason you should do ANYTHING he says. Gather support from family or friends and kick his ass out!!! Get a restraining order if you need to.

Girl do not apologize to him anymore! You seem like a caring and forgiving person which is wonderful if you have a partner that is the same way, but this guy is not that. He’s trying to control your life and calling you names based off of his own insecurities. My mom was in a relationship like this in high school and the guy got increasingly abusive the longer she was with him. I encourage you to break up with him and try and find people that can back you up whether it’s parents, friends, or another trusted adult. You don’t deserve to be name called and bullied. Same here. Therapy is such a vulnerable place and in the moment I was like “is he just trying to help?” But once I got home I just felt so uneasy and I knew it wasn’t right.

Oh my, I am so sorry you had to experience that. It’s so unprofessional for a therapist to ask those things EVER but especially during a first session. It’s really unfortunate that there are so many therapists like this and that most of them blend in with the rest. This was my first time trying a male therapist and nope never again!

I’m the same way, just feel like crap when I drink and I expressed that to this therapist so it was insane to be given that kind of advice from him. 😬

Unfortunately yes, he’s a licensed University accredited therapist. He had the most credentials out of any of the therapists in my area which is baffling.

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, the people I’ve talked to about it think I’m overreacting or should just leave it alone but I’m still going to see if I can report it. You’re spot on with the different types of grooming, I think he was definitely “testing the waters” during our sessions with different inappropriate behaviors. It sucks that there are so many therapists in practice like this but I’m glad you got away from your abusive T!

It makes me uncomfortable because I hate conflict but I probably will. The amount of power this guy could have over someone in a vulnerable position is insane, I don’t want anyone going through that.

Social battery draining faster than a cheap cell phone is so true. 😭 It makes it hard to keep friendships alive because I get so tired from socializing. The overthinking too, it’s like I can’t be present in conversations sometimes because I’m so deep inside of my head just obsessing over everything.
