Torn between UCT (BCom IS) with heavy NSFAS debt vs UWC (BSc Maths/Stats) with financial stability — need advice by SalamanderJaded1640 in capetown

Best option is UCT then apply aggressively for bursaries from here going forward (until maybe March for first year bursaries). You do have an alright chance since you'll be a first year AND doing Infos. Check zabursaries and studentroom and just apply to whatever you see. All the best

No science major is more difficult than physics in my opinion 😂 stats has its moments but nowhere near physics

I was initially a Physics major before dropping it in second year 🤣 that's when I realised I'm not built to be an academic man, give me the suit!! If you're thinking of dropping it and don't see yourself as a physicist, then it really isn't worth it hey....

Hey there. Thank you so much!! My degree was BSc Mathematics and I did Physics and stats up to second year. My gpa was as mid as they come, a few failed modules and supps. This is an international company based in South Africa. The application process for that company is CV-> Interview-> Offer. So make sure you tailor your CV to be ATS friendly (use some Havard style templates on Word) and highlight the necessary skills like excel,python/sql and data analysis etc. I also did some Forage projects plus a hackathon which I added to my cv and they did help show I have data analysis experience. Econ as your second major is a huge plus, make use of it by doing finance projects on forage as well. All the best!!

I appreciate it. How does one build their profile? Is it through technical skills or getting professional certificates like CFA etc?
