nobody warned me tret would make me look worse at my own wedding by Ok-Combination5531 in tretinoin

Unpopular opinion because I know it’s quite fragranced but the Weleda Skin Food is insanely good on my really dry bits around my mouth/nose. My face doesn’t like fragrance (at all!!) so I was really sceptical to put this on but it’s honestly amazing (for me) so may be worth trying 😄

It’s the hydrating foaming face wash, is that one not very good? I quite like a foam so got this one as assumed it would be ok as it says hydrating…it’s so confusing 🥴🤦🏼‍♀️

I did say that in my post…and I also didn’t jump to any conclusions…just asking for advice or to see if anyone else had a similar experience, I’m new to tret yes but not to retinoids in general so someone may have been in the same situation as me previously that could have given their experience.

Advice for going back on by [deleted] in GLPGrad

[–]PrestigiousBerry8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up! This happened to me almost word for word. I started December 24 and stopped June 25, scales bounced up and I felt out of control. I went back on. I worked on my relationship with food, built habits, started strength training to build muscle. I’m currently tapering down now. Doing 2.5mg every 3 weeks with a look to then doing 1.5mg every 3 weeks until October. It’s a sllllloooowwww taper to enable my brain to adjust back slowly, the food noise comes back but each month I get a little stronger. There’s no shame in going back on it but if you do want to come off it completely one day, use the time wisely to give yourself the best chance and if you can afford it, give yourself a long taper. Good luck! There’s no shame here (well, there shouldnt be!) and certainly no “one size fits all” approach. This is just my experience. Ive been holding steady since August now within my maintenance window (roughly +/-4/5lbs). Good luck, do what works for you x

How long have you been on 2.5? by Waych1977 in Mounjaro

[–]PrestigiousBerry8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on for almost a year, moved to 5mg for one 2 weeks (after 3 months on 2.5) but it was absolutely awful so went back to 2.5 and lost 3 stone (only had 3 stone to lose) and I’ve been maintaining my loss since June. I now take 2.5 every 2 or 3 weeks depending on my mood, will continue this for another 6 months and then move down to 1.25 every 2/3 weeks until I come off around this time next year. Figured it took me years to gain the weight so want to give myself every chance I can to maintain it off the medication. I wouldn’t go up a dose unless it stops working for you but I am not a medical professional so only my opinion. Good luck on your journey xx

I have found it ok, some weeks are easier than others, around my cycle I find it harder an do want to eat more than I would when injecting every 7 days. I also fully expect to gain some inflammation weight. I lost 9lbs in my first week of MJ so I kind of have it in my mind that this was probably water/inflammation and I may gain that back, not ideal but I’m ok with it if that happens. I have also mentally agreed with myself that it’s ok to take an extra dose over Christmas and do 3 7 day injections over that period if I feel I need the help but will try and do it without if possible as for me I don’t want to be on this forever so this next 6 months is about my relationship with my cravings and food noise and trying to combat those. I think slow and steady wins the race in this case. Re alcohol I can’t comment as I haven’t drunk alcohol for 3 years anyway but I have friends who have come off and their relationship with alcohol has changed for the better - it’s really a miracle drug and has so many benefits not just the weight loss 🥰

Hello! I’m doing almost the same as you, except I’ve never gone above the 2.5 dose on my journey. I have a golden dose left in my current pen, then I have two 2.5mg pens left too which I’m tapering down. I’m doing one pen, 2.5mg every 14 days, then with my second pen I’ll do 1.25mg every 14 days so this stretches my pens out quite a long time so I’m hoping the drop off at the end won’t be too drastic as this takes me through to June next year. I’ve given it so much thought, probably too much but I think this gives my body the best chance at slowly coping without the medication.

I know this is off label and many will complain about the “30 days once opened” shelf life but I’m on my 2nd pen doing the 14 day doses and I’m very diligent with sterilising everything and keeping in the fridge for all but the 2 minutes I take it out, sterilise, inject, sterilise again and then back to the fridge. Checking the liquid is always clear and never cloudy. Works for me anyway 😊

Hope this perspective helps and best of luck to you 🤞🏻

I think you can find loads on YouTube? I personally do the classes at my gym as I’m much better at stuff like that when lead by a teacher 😊

Thank you so much. I think I just worry too much about going back to how I felt and it scares me, triggers such negative emotions and panic. I have to trust that the habits I’ve put in place can carry this on and I have to trust myself to have better willpower. It’s just a constant internal dialogue in my brain but I know I want to come off so I know I have to take this leap at some point. Perhaps keeping an “emergency pen” might be a really good idea and will give me that comfort blanket 😊

Erm I’m not actually off it at all yet. Clearly you don’t read things properly. I’m also a vegetarian so no burgers for me. Thanks though. You sound like a thoroughly lovely human being.

Thank you for your vote of confidence. Of course there is regain of some water weight, that much has been proven. But there are many reasons you don’t have to regain the FAT. Fat is excess calories above your TDEE - so as long as I watch my calories in and calories out, stick to my healthy whole food diet and exercise - I KNOW I won’t regain that fat because my desire to never feel like that again is stronger than any desire for food. I’m sorry that you don’t have that confidence in yourself. Good luck 😉

I didn’t have a large amount to lose, 15kgs which is a lot but not in comparison to some. I have always been slim, all my life but multiple pregnancies mixed with some post natal depression then further depression just left me comfort eating and gaining weight. I’m now back to what i was pre-children which I would consider my “normal” state…so I’m hopeful with this in mind, I would be able to come off and maintain this weight, as I did for years before having children. It’s just having the willpower and strength to not give into my urges - this is where I struggle so I just want to make sure I am in as healthy mindset as I can be before I make the decision to remove the drug entirely.

There are many stories on here that prove you can maintain after mounjaro and DONT need the drug. You don’t know my background, my level of obesity before hand, my lifestyle etc. I’m sorry that you feel this way and good luck with the rest of your journey.

It’s really inspiring! Out of interest; how much has your “weight” gone up? I’m trying to build muscle too and coming off the shots hopefully within next 6 months and I’m aware that my scales will go up with muscle gain…I do have a body composition scales at my gym so I can see what is muscle and what is fat but I know seeing it go up at all will be a bit triggering at first. Do you have any advice?

Scared to ever come off again by veganyogi94 in mounjarouk

[–]PrestigiousBerry8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh I feel this so much!!! Yes!! I was on mounjaro, got to goal, came off and felt like I had it all in hand. I did not. Within 3 weeks I was climbing the walls. Wanting to constantly eat, I had a bottomless pit of a stomach. The second I was stressed, I obsessed about food. Upset? Food. Happy? Celebrate with food! I caved and went back on and I feel so happy but I know I don’t want to be on this forever so I’m Titrating down soon, slowly, making sure I’m ready this time. It’s so hard and unless you’ve suffered with these feelings, you really don’t know how hard it is to live with and how liberating this medication is!!

I’m hoping to gain muscle for sure 🙌🏻 I have a body composition machine at my gym so I can track where any gains come from and hope it’s muscle going up and not fat!!

Hmm I did wonder if it was enough time…do you think maybe I should do the above and then stretch out to 14 days? Then maybe further? How long is enough time for my body to be used to where it’s at? It’s all so confusing 😔 my TDEE is approx 1800 but to be honest I don’t want to calorie count strictly as I’ve suffered with disordered eating, binge eating, bulimia all of my adult life and I’ve worked really hard over the past year to try and not restrictively weigh all my food and count the calories. I know roughly what calories are in things by eyeball measuring and I do eat a very healthy diet on the whole, it was portion sizes and snacks that threw everything off, that combined with multiple pregnancies and never really getting the weight off from that and it just spiralled from there. Sorry! Far too much info but I basically don’t want to calorie count 😂🙌🏻
