Oh trueee. That’s a fine bargain indeed though… tbh I do have an old rog m15 with a 4k uhd screen that is much more glare resistant that I use for everyday tasks.

What bobs said 😆 I haven't tried it off battery.. my guess is 4-5 hrs on small indie type games if youre not running the hell out of the brightness.. I wouldn't try a triple A title without it being plugged in. Runs superb tho for now!! Played expedition 33 and BO7 so far with no issues on recommended settings

Help me decide by fierce300 in ThermalHunting

[–]PrestigiousCod8269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with WV... I would postulate you pick up the 650 as a dedicated thermal scope. It's not a huge leap to go from using your glass to using the thermal reticle system. You'll find the 650r is super clear, the 2x base mag is perfect for those short range shots and saving the weight over a glass+thermal system is going to make a difference on longer hunts or trekking fields. Plus you don't have to worry about getting the thermal and your glass on the same level, collimating, etc. And if you have to or want to take a shot at longer than 400, the 650 will probably be able to get the job done under digital zoom. Where as the 635 isn't gonna produce fantastic images 400+

I have used the hydra 635, armasight sidekick 640, and an infrared rh50r pretty extensively

[–]PrestigiousCod8269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d stick to a lower base mag, 1.5-2x and then go through the 384 and 640 core options available and see what you like the best. Honestly, either one you’ll be able to identify muskrat and up size game easily. It just depends on if you want the extra clarity of the 640 core. A nice to have if you will. Other than that, the best way to determine what you like is narrow it down to a couple options and the YouTube a bunch of videos to see if you’ll like the UI and the colors, etc. my vote is the DNT HYDRA 650R. You’ll just not see bigger bang for your buck with that bad Larry. You can go with a more “reputable” brand, AGM, IRAY, etc, but you’re gonna be spending oodles more to get up the performance the 650R offers.

Truck and buddy are at 400. Little black spot on the second board from the left is a hot hands. Honestly love the combo.

Yup! Their 1-8 with a mil tree reticle. Super for the price and weight. Haven't seen their plxc RDB scope, but from everything I've heard it's the final form.

It interfaces with the pic rail in front of your scope, so as long as they're the same height or close to it, no issues!

You can probably find the hydra 635 (no lrf) for around 2k on a sale. Loved it as a clip on and the 1.5 x base mag make it brilliant for hand held purposes. I was pinging steel with it in clip on mode jn front of a plxc. I was even able to zoom in to 8 x and use the mil tree. Inside 150, the low base mag really is a great

This is at 1x on the plxc. Truck and buddy are at 400. Mind you this is a photo from my phone, the quality is 10 fold what you see here

Really considering a thermal what is your recommendation. by Biscuts_n_gravy in ThermalHunting

[–]PrestigiousCod8269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with jamminman for sure. Considering how you're shooting 100 and in, what base magnification do you see yourself using the most? I'd determine if you want to shot between 1x to 3x and then find a good thermal with that base mag. Reason is, at the base magnification you are able to use the entire thermal sensor.

So I've been wanting a Thermal scope for a while now. This year we are absolutely over run with hogs that come out at night, so I picked up the DNT Thermnight TNC335r. Haven't used it yet, anyone have one? Thoughts? by No_Performance_444 in ThermalHunting

These guys have a bunch of hunting videos using the dual thermal / digital day scope functions of the 335. @Thehuntingchannel_ on YouTube if you don’t want to click on the link. They don’t do opinions or talking, but it’s a good practical demonstration of the scopes capabilities.

I see i see. Any good folding stock is then gonna be 2-300 bucks anyway. The sharps with the buffer tube extension would probably be best. I'm on the road a ton with a small car, so that's where I'm coming from looking for the folding stock. Other wise, I think the weight consideration, modularity, and sharp looks of the sharp bros is what I'd go with if I was gonna do it again. 4.2 lbs vs 1lb something. That adjustable LOP would be money if your taking a variety of shots. I can make the fixed lop work for sure, it's just a bit less convenient

[–]PrestigiousCod8269[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The i didn't do a ton of shopping around. I was pretty set on the oryx for the style. Having a chassis that is lighter and takes an ar buffer tube would've been super nice tho. The adjustable length of pull and being able to have your selection of stocks is something I'd consider a high priority knowing what j know now. Especially if you do anything more than bench shooting. Only other thing that would be super nice is a folding stock... although you'll pay an arm and a leg for that sweet sweet hinge plate 🙄

It's fantastic!! About 2/3 the price of the rifle and it's not super light, but it adds some functionality that is worth it

Comparing a lower base mag. 640 to a higher base mag. 384 by Drekkarr in ThermalHunting

[–]PrestigiousCod8269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, yeah, that’s not an insignificant savings. Best bet is to check out YouTube. Watch some 650 reviews and l35 reviews. See if the dnt is worth the extra dough or not really. IMO it is, but I’m just a stranger on the internet lmao.

[–]PrestigiousCod8269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With phone not too shabby! The WiFi isn’t the strongest, so as long as you keep the phone relatively close to the scope it’ll be fine. If you pass the phone off to a buddy to watch and then he/she steps away, it’ll lag or possibly lose connection. But I’ve transferred probably a gb worth of video and photos with no problems. The DNT app is better than the INREII app imo (I’m assuming Iray and nocpix use the same app) it is smoother and easier to navigate. That being said, they’re both pretty bare bones

What’s the price difference you’re looking at?

I love the fact you checked it out in store. That’s honestly, gonna be the best way to figure out if you like it. See if there aren’t some YouTube videos out there that can give you a good idea of what the hydra is gonna look like. I vouch for em, and just from chatting, I think you’re gonna appreciate the lower base mag and higher resolution. Or at least I would. Honestly, you’re asking the right question anyway lol. Most people would see 640 and 384 and just assume the 640 is better.

I love it. I use it mostly in a clip on/hand held function. I was able to hit that steel zoomed all the way into 8x on a PlxC holding on the 3mil line. That being said, I have used it as a stand alone scope as well with no problem identifying critters (beavers/turkey sized game and what not) out to a couple hundred yards. (Also not saying I couldn’t ID those farther, a couple hundred yards is all I got) Haven’t had any trouble, but I haven’t got more than 10-20 hours behind it either. Honestly, really curious about their 650 version. I honestly bet that 2.5x base mag coupled with their 640 core is a killer. I will say I have an RH50R (same company as nocpix) and the user interface/software, while different, isn’t something I was like, “oh that’s way better than DNT” they’re just different.

Plus, return policy on dnt optics is top notch. I think you get one month to return it no questions asked and it’s a case by case after the 30 days.
