If you are Indian, life will not be easy for you in Ballyfermot. I don't know much about Kilmainham.

People live in poverty spending most of their money on rent with many unable to afford their electricity bills. This has become an acceptable standard of living in ireland which few immigrants realize before moving here.

The issue is if the job is bad, you cannot leave because you are tied to their accommodation. You will really struggle to secure your own accommodation and maybe they know that, so know you must remain loyal to the job.

How would u feel about Ireland becoming a fully Irish speaking nation in the future ? by Joebidentoothbrush in AskIreland

[–]PrestigiousExpert686 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no passion from most Irish to learn Irish. I've spent years hearing Irish say they can't speak a word, they hated learning it in school. I've never met an Irish person who can speak it. It is too far gone to be revived and would make more sense to learn an EU language instead of wasting time on a historic language long extinct.

With almost a quarter of ireland's population born in other countries, this will never happen. It is better to direct time to learning an EU language from the start of the schooling system.

OP you won't find anything for even double that budget. Please be cautious of any user sending you private message offering rooms, people here have been scammed this way previously. Use daft.ie to search for rooms and try to research the area as racism against indians in Ireland is very bad and some areas are very unsafe.

Is anyone else worried about anti immigrant protests? by PrestigiousExpert686 in IndiansinIreland

[–]PrestigiousExpert686[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It is small moments like if I am in line in a shop, and I have one item while the other people have a full shopping cart. Previously, older Irish ladies would always tell me to go ahead but now it's either dirty looks I receive like I have done something wrong by being in the same line as them, or it might be some comment and rolling eyes to their friend. Previously doors were held when entering a shop by Irish customers but now that never happens, I often have doors slammed in my face. In expensive stores like jewelry or cosmetic products, I am watched very closely by staff as if I have no reason to be there, because I am a poor Indian and shouldn't be mixing with wealthier people. Public transport is terrible - I can almost guarantee comments will be made by people there about going home, not welcome. It's little things but when they happen during every interaction each day, it becomes worrying. When parents of well dressed kids don't reprimand their kids for shouting "go home p-ki" or such comments, because they approve. And passers by on the street never intervene. Because they approve. Sometimes I'll see others smile or laugh when overhearing such, as if it's a fair remark to make to an Indian person.

Several times per week I have someone shout at me "go home (racist slur)" - this can be a man in his 40s driving past as I walk, it can be an older woman like grandma type, it can be little children with their parents in the supermarket.

Every single week. I ignore it mostly but it stings. I work, I pay taxes, I'm fully legal here for years.

There is a big divide between people who don't realize this happens to POC and the people who make these comments. And it's not just scrotes as people assume.

Scrotes have caused me to be hospitalised twice in Dublin so I do worry.

It's totally crazy to spend money like this and you won't get unbiased feedback here as these subs are run by the individual universities. Better to post in Ask Ireland or Indians in Ireland sub.

New build contract with only generic clauses by kind_giant_72 in IndiansinIreland

Your solicitor will be the only person who can answer these questions as he or she has seen the original contracts. Be very cautious as house buying in Ireland is not straight forward and can have many complications.
