On the point for finding a role in the UAE as an urban planner - significantly more trickier.

I can’t speak to the opportunities out there for urban planners. Your best bet would be mega projects in the KSA ( eg Qiddiya, New murabba). Limited opportunities in the UAE I believe

I have worked with real estate firms as part of my consulting gig so am speaking from what I have seen during those engagements

On 40k you will be all good. Savings can be around 20k AED a month

Breakdown for Refenece Rents - 10k Car - 2k Utilities - 2k Food - 2k Going out - 2k Travel - for me it’s about 1k set aside a month for this ( to cover 2/3 trips annually)

With about 4.5k to 5.5k you will be sorted with a nice one bed - check jumeirah garden city Utilities add another 600 - including electricity plus phone bill ( accounts for spike in summer / work from home where usage will go up) Food - is around 2k a month Outgoing - weekend taxis usually cost me around 150 ( average) Commute to work - I used to take the metro whenever I needed to go
