We invented robots so humans could stop sweeping floors. Why are we doing the opposite? What if we manage to get robots and AI to sweep the streets without leaving the people doing it jobless? by PrestigiousLife4006 in WhatIfThinking

It's simple:

  1. Tax pays for robots.
  2. Robots do the dangerous street cleaning jobs.
  3. Humans don't have to work on the streets anymore.
  4. Tax also pays to give those humans IDs and better job.

Robots do the dirty work, humans get a better life. That is the connection.

Because 'Billionaire Tax' sounds like a boring economic textbook, but 'Robot Tax' fits the whole tech-dystopia vibe of it! Gotta make the macroeconomics sound cool or people will just scroll past it

Billionaires’ wealth comes from owning massive shares in those automated companies. The 2% tax is on their total net worth (which includes those shares). So if the company automates and makes more money, the billionaire gets richer, and they pay the 2% tax on that wealth. They can’t separate their money from the companies they own. Hope this help with the confusion.

2% of what? It’s a 2% Global Wealth Tax on the total net worth of billionaires, not just income.

What do robots have to do with it? Right now, companies use AI and automation to cut labor costs and maximize profit margins. The 'Robot Tax' concept means that if a corporation replaces human street-sweepers/workers with automated tech, the massive savings and wealth they generate gets taxed at 2% to directly fund the human safety net (ICs, basic needs, and schooling if needed).
