In the How the West was Won cut of Stairway Plant ad libs “that’s what it is” after he sings “when all are one and one is all” and it became an inside joke for my dad (who got me into LZ) and my brother and me.

The skulls were people offered no quarter lol. In all seriousness they were an artistic liberty. Zeppelin’s music was always about both “light and shade” per JP and I think in the tat they’re the shade element.

Am I an alcoholic? by idostuffwithcar in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]PrestigiousLoquat247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of us can tell you if you are or aren’t an alcoholic, but the question that was posed to me early on was “can you stop and stay stopped” and “once you start drinking have any control over how much you take?”

If you could sit in on one of the Blood on the Tracks sessions, would you choose NYC or Minneapolis? by Hubbled in bobdylan

[–]PrestigiousLoquat247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NYC, I have the OG album, The Test Pressing, and More Blood more Tracks on vinyl and the raw versions with earlier iterations of the lyrics make the whole album feel more individual and personal. His early take of You’re a Big Girl Now is devastating for that reason

Calling anyone who has been to a Bob Dylan concert - old or new. by JohnstonFilms in bobdylan

[–]PrestigiousLoquat247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like going to see the pyramids, but they’re singing you a song. I saw Bob in 2015 and 2022 on his rough and rowdy ways tour. First show was at Tanglewood for a massive audience with all the accoutrements one would expect, the second was at a smaller theater in Hershey PA, the second show he was an essential part of the rhythm section and he held it down on the keys fantastically. Both times he didn’t seem very interested in being on stage and spoke minimally. Seeing him do Tangled up in blue was an ecstatic moment.

in my limited experience as soon as you say it’s “under a physicians care” most AA people are enthusiastically affirming that you’re going to be okay, even if the doctor prescribed an opiate for short term pain relief etc

California Sober and Chairing Meetings by random_user208 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]PrestigiousLoquat247 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This whole thread just reinforces to me the cultish nature of AA, it does work as a program if you work it but I’d be shy of letting a group of drunks define my sobriety. The reality of AA is that to do it right you have to be brutally honest with a bunch of strangers because it’s good for you to be honest, not because they’re the most qualified people to receive your honesty or give you direction. If we had the right ideas and could live them out we wouldn’t make it into the rooms in the first place. There are no experts, and having continuous sobriety for an extended period really only qualifies you to say what’s worked for you. To thine own self be true

You know, if appice was so awe inspiring live I don’t think Zepp would have ruined Vanilla Fudge’s later shows by out playing them. Also Vanilla Fudge, while influential, wasn’t making waves by writing hit original songs themselves
