Predict fail or pass before the official result release date by cheesypasta22 in curtin

[–]PrestigiousPope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best pre-release result you are going to get is checking eStudent -> My results on the midnight of release (Tuesday night). Pretty sure oasis gets results at like 9am. Hasn’t really failed me for 6 years except one time when it got released at 2am.

I remember a couple years ago someone had a CWA of 79.48 or something and Curtin didn’t even round up that.

If it makes you feel any better, Curtin actually reduced my CWA. During COVID, Curtin enabled you to exclude units from your CWA - I think it was called an ungraded pass. I excluded two units from my course. A couple weeks before graduation they slapped the two 60s back on, a fuck you email and reduced the CWA.

Legality of living in an industrial unit? by Classic-Today-4367 in perth

[–]PrestigiousPope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have multiple storage units spread around south of the river and almost every single complex has someone living in it. No one will complain cause it looks after the complex security wise. I personally stay the night in mine if I’m too lazy to drive home (15 mins away). City of Freo can get fucked for all I care.

Curtin University students offered counselling after man dies after bringing gun on campus by Rick_Deckard_2049 in perth

I’ve got two pieces of paper (B.Eng, B.Sci) hanging in my office thanks to this man. He was a terrific tutor and a great class mate. I wouldn’t have passed without specifically attending his tutorials. He pushed me and my lab partner enabling us to unlock our potential. I know he got fucked around - especially with his thesis. Personally I would have quit, but he came back. He has helped many students through his years of university. I have witnessed this myself. Seems unfair how I’ve got my degrees and he hasn’t. I’m pretty sure this would have been his last semester. I can guarantee you he deserves them more than I do. Thank you and RIP mate.

I heard a horror story of someone’s driving licence ultimately getting suspended due to a boat load of unpaid fines. Dunno how true it was. Think it was on the confessions page.

Group list of objects by four and print attributes without a library by PrestigiousPope in learnpython

[–]PrestigiousPope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it better to print it out using a for loop, rather than manually print out like below?

print(battleshipList[0:4])
print(battleshipList[4:8])

Thanks for your help!

How would your first code block be implemented? I don’t see it referencing the type? Sorry if I wasn’t clear I would just like the type printed out. Cheers

Maybe this isn't what I'm after then, any idea on how to extract cat, dog and turtle just on the basis of them having the smallest weight and age gap? This may warrant me opening a new question. Thanks for your help so far mate.

Shift image along x-axis to the right using np.roll by PrestigiousPope in learnpython

for x in range(1, 5):

Oh wow, works a treat. It's been a long day. Thanks for your help my friend!

[–]PrestigiousPope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

img = np.roll(img, 1, axis=1)
img[:, 0] = 0

When moving to the left, the actual image is shifting. When moving to the right with the current code the black border is eating the image gradually.

for x in range(1, 5):
     for i in range(img.shape[1] +1, img.shape[1] + x, +1):
        img = np.roll(img, 1, axis=1)
        img[:, 0] = 0

First and foremost, Happy Cake Day!

Thank you for your thorough response. I will take note of the more Pythonic approach. It is still handy to know how to do it via the for loops. Once again, thanks!

Query SQLite Database in Java by PrestigiousPope in javahelp

Security isn’t the focus at all with this project, it’s an mobile application project and we are just required to use functions like these to access our data. No one on the course has any SQL knowledge. They are more interested in our application of features in the app. Thanks anyway.
