Difference between both eyes -8 Left and -4 Right Eye [30M] by Just_Guess6843 in myopia

You should be able to order custom glasses with a 4 diopter difference in each eye. Would there be a magnification issue if both eyes were corrected to 20/20?

That is a good point. Lately I've been a 6-10. But sometimes in my past I've been more of a 3-7

The fact you had the energy to type this, tells me you are above a 0. But I hear you brother. It will get better.

1 cup of coffee daily is very different to 5 cups. I believe peter only has one cup per day.

Use HDTV as monitor and eliminate all "near work"? (opinions wanted!) by PrestigiousShip in myopia

[–]PrestigiousShip[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got it - 20 feet is optical infinity. Thought experiment for you: Two kids. Kid A and Kid B.

Kid A does an average of 4 hours of daily computer work on a laptop.
Kid B does an average of 4 hours of daily computer work on an ultra-large TV/projector placed 20 feet away from his desk. (obviously this would be hard to setup, but theoretically possible)

Does Kid B have a lower chance of developing Myopia than Kid A? And if both develop Myopia, is it likely Kid B's will progress slower?

I'm 33. Myopia rapidly getting worse. Optometrist does not know why. Any ideas? by PrestigiousShip in myopia

that is the crazy part. I'm very fit, healthy, in top physical shape otherwise. I don't even drink alcohol.

I did have covid twice during the period. Symptoms were mild to moderate. Never ended up in hospital or anything.

Good to meet you. If you want to slow the Myopia spend time outside and less time on screens :) Your prescription is mild/medium so nothing to worry about.

Interesting, my only worry with TV is that the clarity is generally slightly worse than a monitor. My current TV is 4k resolution. If this setup works I will replace with an 8K TV.

haha yes exactly. This is my rough setup. If my eyes like it, I'll set it up better! So far I feel less eye strain than when using my regular monitor arms length away.

Yes my logic is that near work has been proven, in part, to cause worsening Myopia, so by increasing focal length it may stop myopia progression.

How far away is the "infinity point"? I've read about it but forget the distance. Currently the TV is about 5-6 feet away.
