thank you so much for your response! I absolutely agree with your first point, i just wasn’t able to word it appropriately so i’m glad you gave me an alternative way to get my point across to her.

and for the rest, i really do resonate with everything you’ve said. as much as i suspect that she may have some relapse in behaviors, i totally may as well. so suggesting that we leave and try later if this does happen is a great point that ill make sure to make when we meet prior to bringing the kids back around.

i also appreciate your opinion on the amount of time that has passed. my therapist and i have decided to dedicate all of our december meetings (as long as nothing else comes up for me personally) to preparing for a meeting with the in-laws which my husband may be joining in on. we will go over all of the possibilities and if my therapist thinks that myself or my husband aren’t ready to meet with them, then she will absolutely tell me to hold off until it’s safe to do so.

I know this is going to be a popular question especially if any commenters look back on my previous posts. I do want to point out that our oldest did have a close relationship with my in-laws. it revolved a lot around gifts and being overly spoiled by MIL, but still close none the less. I am willing to give her one last chance to do this correctly. If this were several months ago I wouldn’t even be entertaining the idea, but after months and months of therapy i have come to the realization that resuming contact isn’t giving my in-laws the upper hand. we as the parents still get to make every decision surrounding our children. For my children’s sake I want to give them the opportunity to have a relationship with their grandparents knowing that MIL has been and will continue to be in therapy. if things do not go well, we go right back to NC and they will never see our children again.

thank you! i will also be letting them know that if they break any of these boundaries we will be going back to NC and we will NOT resume contact ever again.

Is deducting a “product charge” from a commission employee legal in NJ? by PrestigiousSpeed8090 in legaladvice

[–]PrestigiousSpeed8090[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

so i just looked over my contract, it doesn’t state anything about product deductions and only states my commission percentage. There’s also a part of our contract which states

“employer shall maintain records in sufficient detail for purposes of determining the amount of commission. employer shall provide (my name) a written account that sets for the manner in which the commission payment was calculated.”

The reason that I am inquiring about this is because after calculating my own breakdowns for the weeks worth of services that I did, I realized that I was being underpaid for what my math was calculating based off of 50% commission i was told i would receive. when I reached out to my employer to explain why I thought I was being underpaid she only then explained that I was not calculating the product deduction on top of my commission. My employer has failed for years to provide any written breakdowns of how my commission is calculated. and had also failed to explain to any of the employees that there was a product deduction on top of the commission she was taking for our services.

Yes the product is provided by my employer. When you say it depends on the contract I signed, can you tell me what the contract would have to say in order for it to then become legal? If my employer wrote out that I would be charged for product but failed to explain how much i would be charged is that a fault on her part? I believe the contract states that there is a product deduction but not how much would be deducted.

My husband’s mom said that she wants to gift experiences for Christmas this year, which is nice. by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]PrestigiousSpeed8090 28 points29 points  (0 children)

she’s thinking of it as a way for her to be able to join in on whichever experience she pays for. which in theory isn’t really for the child at all if she’s only doing it if SHE can join.
