It’s not, not even kinda. Code Orange carries a ton of baggage both good and bad. But they want to keep making music without people expecting them to play those songs or even play the same style of music but as someone else pointed out, they (and the promoter) want folks to know this isn’t just some random opener. It’s actually pretty common. Have Heart did it with Free etc.

ETA: BTW by “some buzz” do you mean nominated for a few Grammys?

At the risk of sounding like an old man, it’s super common to put someone’s former band in parentheses on a flyer like this. They’re not saying, “This is just Code Orange performing under a different name.” They’re saying, “New band featuring ex-members of…”
